overtime incentives

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi all just wondering what type of overtime incentives there are out there in az. I'm still a student and I keep hearing of $1000 + time and a half but that seems like an awful lot. let me know of the incentives you've heard of and which area of the hospital.

Is that just for the CVICU, or hospital wide? I know we are having a real hard time staffing our CVICU..........8 job openings online :zzzzz

Oh no, not just CVICU, it's hosp wide. Tell me the admin isn't desperate! It prolly just KILLS 'em at each productivity meeting.:scrying: I do have to commend them for stepping up and offering it, as much as it must kill them. They could just demand we take heavier loads (well, they did/have done that).

You only need two things to make it a hospital, a patient and their nurse. Without either, well then it's just a really bad hotel.

I'm the $8.00 an our incentive person. I just heard through the grapevine that the hospital is considering squashing the OT incentive. I don't know quite how they'll staff the hospital. I get a call almost every day asking if I can come in to work. Obviously, even the incentive isn't keeping us staffed up to par. Wondering what will happen if they cancel the incentive?

8$/hour for overtime for RN's?? I do not know how they keep staff!

There are so many positions open in the valley that pay better than that!

I think it's 8 hours in addition to the overtime pay. :wink2:

The last place I worked had $15 in addition to the OT, so $8 still isn't that great...

okay, correction. it is $8.00 per hour on top of the time and a half for over 40 hours. Pay in our area is not great but we do all right. My hospital is the only one in a decent driving distance that offers any incentive for extra shifts.

A friend of mine who works at CR says she gets $500 for coming in on an off day, plus double time.

Is that hospital wide policy or is she in a specialty?

Also, does anyone know if the new freeway loop off the 60 in East Mesa goes down around towards Chandler yet? Or will it even? I'm always on the hunt for a new job for my mom, and she's mentioned CR a few times but it's too far a hike for her presently. But if that freeway extends that way........

The freeway does extend that way, but it's tricky, it's not connected from eastbound 60 going south on 202 (but should be soon). You can still get on from a side street though.

My friend does work in a specialty area (can't say which one though, just in case).

Where I work I've been offered time and 1/2 and double time to work. But I turned it down and told them to call me back if they were offering triple time, and they never did. I'm 8 months pg and my feet are swollen, it would take me a lot more cash to put in extra hours. :lol2:

Just curious if anyone knows what scottsdale healthcare OT incentives are (if any)?

Wow, I can't believe all the OT incentives at hospitals around here!!

We have NO OT incentives. If we work an OT shift, it's time and a half. But we have nothing in addition to the time and a half. We can sign up to be available for a shift and if they call you then it's double time .... but they only use those people as a last resort. We never have a problem with being short-staffed though ....as there are tons of nurses on our unit that are more than happy to pick up extra shifts, just for time and a half.

NO incentives and NO doubletime ever...just straight time and a half over 40 hours.
