Hi all just wondering what type of overtime incentives there are out there in az. I'm still a student and I keep hearing of $1000 + time and a half but that seems like an awful lot. let me know of the incentives you've heard of and which area of the hospital.

Well, in my sisterhood of hospitals, I am seeing time and a half plus an additional $15 an hour.
I was on this type of shift yesterday,(13 hours worth), and they were desperate for nurses for the next shift. They were begging me to stay an additional 4 hours. I was dog tired (night shift) and they were out of overtime premiums to pay since I was already doing the highest paid overtime tier.
I made an offer to stay for 4 more hours for $500. They did not accept the counter offer, so I went home! It will require a lot of money for me to work more than 4 twelve hour shifts in a row
PS - The area of the hospital is ICU. We were so busy we were holding two new ICU patients in the ER because we did not have the nurses to staff our ICU even with registry nurses.
Things were pretty slow before Christmas, business is booming now.

At the hospital where I work our "extra-shift" incentive is $8.00 per hour. Since we don't typically work 40 hour weeks, we don't get time-and-a-half until we hit 40 hours and OT such as working an hour or two late doesn't qualify for incentive pay. Incentive pay is only if you work an unscheduled shift and only if you don't call in during the pay period where you worked an extra shift.
So, if I work an "e-day" after I've worked 40 hours in a week, I earn time and a half + $8.00 an hour. I think LPN's get a $4.00 incentive and NCA's get a $2.00 incentive.

I will be starting at Chandler Regional very soon and this is their protocol for overtime~~anything over 36 hours a week is paid at double time at all CHI hospitals.

My hospital gives you $250 dollars for picking up an extra shift. And of course if it puts you into overtime you get that as well.

$200/shift for 1st O/T shift in a pay period, and $300 for any further shifts within that same PP. Plus time-and-a-half over 40 hrs.

wow- an additional 2-300 for just picking up the shift? Not including the actual pay for doing it? Am I getting that correct?
Is that just for the CVICU, or hospital wide? I know we are having a real hard time staffing our CVICU..........8 job openings online :zzzzz

A friend of mine who works at CR says she gets $500 for coming in on an off day, plus double time.
Also, I've heard that Banner is going to double time for overtime as well.
There is a lot of money to be made if you can work overtime, but I don't want to get burned out too quickly. I have a friend who made well over $100K last year at the VA, but he's also not married and has no kids.
