Just wondering if there's some particular nursing specialty which deals with more vomit than all others.
Stories are welcome, of course.
Peds LTC where they are all tube fed and sz frequently
So so so much vomit, if they sz during or after tube feeds.....plus clogged tubes.
Trach with tons of secretions can make me come close to vomiting...
Or any floor that does bowel clean outs
Or pretty much any floor that does or care you will find vomit...
You already know it's school nursing.
And it's the worst kind of vomit because little kids likely have never vomited so they don't know to run to the garbage can or toilet. They just urp all over themselves. They don't know to hold back their thick, curly hair or to try and miss their pretty outfit and shoes.
I've cleaned vomit off of shoelaces, out of thick curls, off school uniforms, faces, sides of garbage cans, all over my clinic, and the list goes on.
Don't forget Peds!!! PLENTY of vomit to go around...
So true, but for the really pungent stuff you'll want to avoid those 0-6 month olds, formula and breast milk is more a nuisance than anything gag-worthy.
Toddler meals, now we're talkin'!
I haven't read the other thread though maybe I should!

Rivers of vomit in oncology, in spite of these amazing 'new' drugs to control it, there was still a lot more than average, methinks.
Here's another one; inpatient detox. Alcohol, benzos and opioid withdrawal pushes the boundaries of barf to a new level.
