Just wondering if there's some particular nursing specialty which deals with more vomit than all others.
Stories are welcome, of course.

It's totally a parody of the other post. The title is exactly the same except "most" instead of "least."If someone has a fetish of vomit, I highly recommend oncology!

Rivers of vomit in oncology, in spite of these amazing 'new' drugs to control it, there was still a lot more than average, methinks.
Here's another one; inpatient detox. Alcohol, benzos and opioid withdrawal pushes the boundaries of barf to a new level.

Peds LTC where they are all tube fed and sz frequently
So so so much vomit, if they sz during or after tube feeds.....plus clogged tubes.
Trach with tons of secretions can make me come close to vomiting...
Or any floor that does bowel clean outs
Or pretty much any floor that does or care you will find vomit...

Ok....that was fun....but remember the other thread is posted by someone, possibly young who is wanting to think about nursing...let's be nice.

You already know it's school nursing.
And it's the worst kind of vomit because little kids likely have never vomited so they don't know to run to the garbage can or toilet. They just urp all over themselves. They don't know to hold back their thick, curly hair or to try and miss their pretty outfit and shoes.
I've cleaned vomit off of shoelaces, out of thick curls, off school uniforms, faces, sides of garbage cans, all over my clinic, and the list goes on.

I saw lots of vomit on a med-surg/oncology floor. Lots of post-ops, lots of GI, lots of chemo.
Meh, vomit.

Saw TONS of vomit in Labor and Delivery. Had a patient who had drank grape juice throw up all over my white maternity jumpsuit. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that went in the trash that day.

OP, I think based on this thread, you have probably come to the same conclusion as the rest of us: it's EVERYWHERE!!

I have worked med/surg/tele with a lot of post-op ortho patients. They puke a lot. And Chemo. Definitely chemo. I give a LOT of Zofran, phenergen and reglan. Lot's of pukers.
I seriously JUST realized there are two threads, one asking where the MOST vomit occurs, one where the LEAST is....by two different people.
Man, that is A LOT of preoccupation with vomit, folks!
Emesis happens.

Don't forget Peds!!! PLENTY of vomit to go around...
So true, but for the really pungent stuff you'll want to avoid those 0-6 month olds, formula and breast milk is more a nuisance than anything gag-worthy.
Toddler meals, now we're talkin'!
I haven't read the other thread though maybe I should!

Yep, L&D has its fair share. Undoubtedly not as much as oncology, peds, or maybe PACUl

Oh, I don't know, don't rule out the nurses' change rooms when there's a bug going around....
