Are these sneakers acceptable for nursing school?

Published

I just bought Nike sneakers for nursing school and I am not sure if they are acceptable or not ... Nike Women's Dart 9 Running

My worries are that they are not completely white, which I hope is still acceptable.

These are the requirements for shoes that my nursing department said:

Plain, all white leather shoes/sneakers

  • No open toes or heels
  • These can be nursing shoes or walking shoes manufactured by sports companies
  • No clogs or open back shoes are allowed.
  • No canvas or nylon shoes are permitted (essentially any shoe material that body fluids can soak through are not allowed).

Thanks in advance for answering my questions!

My program is extremely strict on the shoes and has very similar guidelines. Ours have to be leather, all white, no clogs, etc. What you showed would NOT be acceptable at all. I'm sorry.

This is what I had my first semester: 76009 Sector Slip Resistant They are plain white and they worked.

My second semester my family chipped in and got these for my birthday: The Dansko Professional from the Stapled Clog collection. They are more expensive but for me they were worth it because my feet felt so much better at the end of the day.

Also, I know lots of people that do the Timberland shoes (including a good friend who is a dental assistant and on her feet all day) and she loves them.

Good luck!

I bought these: Amazon.com: Skechers Women's Premium-Premix Slip-On Sneaker: Shoes

I like that hey are slip on--no laces to get nasty. Not too pricey and very comfortable.

I love those! I almost bought them last year but my program rejected them because of the metallic detail. I was disappointed.

This is what I got. Our shoes just have to be mostly white and I love Shox. I don't think I've ever spent 12 hours standing in them, though, so if they don't work I'll upgrade to some real nursing shoes.

From personal experience--

Dillard's, in stores or on-line: Reebok Women's Comfort Deluxe Sneakers (Velcro closures) or Athletic Shoes (laces), all white (or black), all leather uppers. $45.

Also in men's, Reebok Comfort Deluxe Walking Shoes, either Velcro or laces, all white (or black), all leather uppers, $45. Very comfortable.

I'd say no they won't be acceptable for two reasons, they are not ALL white and they have mesh panels on them. If your school is as stringent as mine, you wouldn't be allowed on the clinical floor.

I have an all white leather pair of Nike Shox I wear when I'm working on the floor as an LPN. I also have a pair that is all white, leather (also Nike I believe) that I have just for my RN school clinicals.

I have the same pair in all white. I've spent 12 hours standing and working in them and I still love them. I've put them on at 4am and kept them on until around 11pm and still had no issues.

I actually have to get a new pair, I really don't like the new ones I purchased for clinicals but at the time i needed them ASAP. Humm..rainy day here..nothing to do...yup...me thinks its new all white Shox shopping today! ;)

Oh awesome, that's great to know! Where did you find the all white ones?

I think it was Lady Foot Locker. I also picked up a pair at a local shoe store. I've been checking around online and I think its going to be difficult to get ALL white. I see many with a grey piping, not sure it that would fly with my school. Maybe I'll email the nursing director a pic of the ones I found and see if they meet her approval.

I agree with the others. If the guidance didn't specifically say plain, all white, you might be ok.

I wore white danksos and my school didn't accept clogs either. When they say clogs they mean open back like crocs. Personally I think too much time was wasted on the perfect shoes. I think as long as the are OSHA complaint that should be enough without worrying if every single little bit is white. If the schools are so picky they should give you a list of acceptable shoes as a guideline.

I think they are very nice but the large purple swoop may be a problem. Try some nurse mates, they are comfortable and they only have a small blue heart on the side. You can find them pretty reasonable at shoe show.
