Of course -- it's noted on my driver's license, and I've made sure every member of my family knows that, if I'm ever in that situation, I want to donate any and every part that anyone else can use.

It's on my drivers license , my entire family knows of my wishes and they know that if they do not follow my wishes and it is possible, I will haunt them and harrass them until THEIR dying day ;)

Hell, even people who would have no cause to make end of life decisions for me knows my wishes. I figure the more that know my wishes the better the chances that no one goes against them.

At age 47, my husband became an organ donor. The man who received my husband's kidney had a baby boy on Aug. 23, 2010 that he and his wife named Thomas, after my late husband.

Our children are now 15 and 17, and they each received their driver's license this year. At the same time, they registered to become an organ donors, and have encouraged their friends to do so, too.

I'm curious about the rationales of the two people so far who have indicated they are not donors ...

Il has a new law in the books that if a person has indicated on their drivers license they wish to be a donor the family can't refuse or reverse the situation.

As you may or may not be able to tell from my user name, I'm an advocate of organ donation. In fact, I'm currently in Nursing school and I received a heart transplant in May of 2007. Organ donation just makes sense.

I can not definitively speak for the two who voted "no" as being organ donors, but perhaps they are not donors due to religious reasons or underlying medical conditions that would rule them out as donors.

People need to not be concerned with their eligibility to be an organ donor if they have a preexisting condition. g ahead and sign up, and let the organ donation agency determine if you are a suitable donor or not. You may be surprised that you could still be a donor, even with a preexisting condition. Don't automatically disqualify yourself.

Emphatically yes, I am a donor. You can't take it with you, so might as well let some one else borrow it for a while ;)

Hey, if I'm done using it and it still has some value PLEASE take it before I'm ashes to ashes.
