Are we all old???

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi Everybody.

I'm new to this board, but it seems that there are a lot of older/returning students here.

Just out of curiousity, how old are you and where are you in life???

I'm 33 and a SAHM to two children: dd(3), and ds(1). I'm hoping to get into UF's accelerated BSN program next summer and somehow find time to balance it all....to be honest, it's a little intimidating to think about.

Good luck to us all!!!

Carla

I just turned 32 in June and will be 33 if I get into a nursing program next year. I am married, no kids.

Specializes in Cardiac, Derm, OB.

Turning th big 35 in 11 days and hating it. Have 2 kiddos and finishing up pre's this fall and spring to apply for fall 2008. Hope I get in as you say, no time to waste.

I'm 30, and hoping to get to a nursing program for fall 2008 as well. It's so nerve-wracking! Good luck, everyone! :lol2:

God Bless you! You just gave me a great idea. I was worried about how I was going to help feed my kids and pay rent (I have a 13 y/o and a set of 9 y/o twins. :smiley_ab ). I was accepted into a BSN program but I wanted to pull my weight, too. I am married but I don't want the weight to just be on him, you know? Thank you.

I am a proud 34 and I turn 35 in November. Oh my G-d?

I have wanted to be a nurse for years. There is a time in everyone's life were they would like to make a positive impact on other people's lives. For some it happens earlier and for most, it happens later in our lives. What better way to do that than to become a nurse? Good Luck to everyone in your quest for greatness; nobody said it would be easy.

I just finished my pre reqs. I am 42 and have been raising a 2 year old granddaughter for the last 6 months. Balance is tricky, I have a 13 year old, 22 year old, and a 23 year old. I am looking forward to being a nurse. I don't consider myself old, I am still very active and energetic.Good luck everyone on reaching the goals you have set.

i'm not "old"... i'm actually turning 22 tomorrow. but i certainly am in a different point in my life than my peers. while a lot of them are still partying every weekend, i have a child to take care of. my priorities are a complete 180... establishing a career that will support myself and my daughter.

Specializes in Endoscopy.

I am a 23 year old female, been working as a RN on a med/surg floor since feb. Not married, no kids....still at home with mom (who is also a RN...of nearly 30 years).

"Old" is not the term to use...its "wise";)

I'm 29, and have a Law degree. I started working in an office (yuck) and then as a nanny, and specialised in newborn infant care. Now I am determined to go to nursing school and train as a Pediatric/Neonatal NP. I love working with babies and very young children. I am doing my pre-reqs this year and probably next year too and hope to apply next Fall to the accelerated BSN at MGH in Boston to start in Summer 2009. Quite an adventure I am embarking on!!!

I love children, too. They bring out the best in me. It is sort of a double edged sword, though. Seeing daily how grown folks dishonor them; I would have to refrain myself from violence often. Yet, they are so full of promise; promise that we have lost with bitterness. They smell sweet naturally, too.:heartbeat Good luck to you. Boston is not such a far jump culturally from cities in the U.K; some accents are different : "bar" is "bahh" and "car" is "cahh". My husband lived there years ago.

Have fun.

Specializes in midwifery, NICU.
