Are we all old???

Hi Everybody.

I'm new to this board, but it seems that there are a lot of older/returning students here.

Just out of curiousity, how old are you and where are you in life???

I'm 33 and a SAHM to two children: dd(3), and ds(1). I'm hoping to get into UF's accelerated BSN program next summer and somehow find time to balance it all....to be honest, it's a little intimidating to think about.

I will be 47 on Saturday. In life I am "On Top of The Hill" in excellent physical shape and planning to stay there forever.....I will not travel down that hill....not without a fight!!!! :wink2: I have a 22 year old and an 8 year old, I am SHM, I am wrapping up prerequisites and hope to be accepted to nursing school in the near future.

Hi there! I don't consider myself to be "old" since I am only 21, but right now I am in my first semester of nursing school! It took me a while to get all my pre-req's out of the way but it was all worth it!

Hi there! I am 39 and a widow with 2kids ages 12yrs and 3yrs. I already work in a hospital as a tech so when my husband passed away last year and I realized I couldn't raise my girls on what I make as a tech it was just natural for me to go back to school and get my RN. I go to school Mon thru Thurs and work three 12hr shifts on Fri-Sat-Sun. I have no idea when I sleep! LOL!!!!

I hope not! I just started back to school last year at the age of 30 and am currently waiting to find out if I am in the program (3-4 more weeks!). I also have two kids--dd ages 5 and 2. It is quite tough sometimes to find the balance between school and family but as time goes on it gets easier. I think as a SAHM, it was even harder because I had always kept a pretty clean house and know I find I'd rather study than say, clean the potties. So now my house always looks like a tornado hit but my grades are good, the kids are happy and healthy and the DH is happy too. So I guess what I am trying to say is with a little re-prioritizing, you will find the balance that works for you--Good luck!

Hi! I'm 37, divorced, no kids, live paycheck to paycheck (and I do mean that). I haven't got a dime to my name. I'm currently employed in the lackluster, boring, and unrewarding IT career. I'm trying to figure out how to get back to school (finances and scheduling) to get in my way to an RN. If I'm not going to make big money, I'd rather be doing something spiritually rewarding.

I am 18 years old and working on my first semester of pre-req's. I don't think you are ever too old to go to school for Nursing! My mom is 47 and she wants to go to school for Nursing, and I'm trying to convince her. I say go for it, because even if you are a Nurse for a short time if that's what you really want to do then you will feel better knowing you did it. If you don't go, you will probably always regret it. My neighbor who is 80 says that is the one thing in her life that she regrets. Besides if my mom does it we can help each other with our homework lol.

I am 24 and switching careers... no kids yet but just got married in August... I am looking into an accelerated BSN program and an accelarated MSN program for second degree (in another field) people. Good luck to all!

I'm 33 and holding. :monkeydance: I'm still chugging away at my pre-req's and some co-req's. I had a co-worker on campus tell me that all of the old students always make good grades. My reply was, "of course we do sweetheart we don't have any time to lose."

That is EXACTLY what I told my teacher today!!!! I don't have 20 years....I need to get into nursing school NOW!!!!!!! :wink2: (I am usually making one of the highest, if not highest grades)

Love it! That's exactly right!

I'm 39yo, married with a 10yo, work full-time as a legal secretary (which I've been doing for 15 years) and am knocking out pre-reqs part-time at my local community college.

As I'm facing 40 in two months, I prefer to think of myself as chronologically challenged rather than old ;)
