Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
Does anyone know an easy way to remember Hypernatremia and Hyponatremia; Hyperkalemia and Hypokalemia in electrolytes? Or do you have a better understanding of it? If u do, please explain. Thank you

Thank you Micha So we would see, INCREASED ICP (intracranial pressure) in HYPERnatremia correct? Thank you :nuke:
That was very helpful.
Hypernatremia: Salt is FIRED ( as in UP & excited)
Hyponatremia: Salt is loss
Thank you again.

thank you so much!!! im starting to freak out a little and its so hard not to study!! i cant believe its tomorrow!!! waaaaa! hehe
yes as increased ICP in hypernatremia...and based on my experience if patient has High Sodium or hy[ernatremic patient usually are incdication of dehydration too so hpotonic solution is given or if patient has NGT, sterile water is given via NGT to washed out sodium... and if patient is Hyperkalemic IVF glucose is given and regular insulin to move excess potassium or if not especially in a ward setting a medication called polystyrene sulfonate is given/..If patient has a very critical sky high level of potassium start dialysis to remove excess potassium..

Good luck Chichi :icon_hug: and supernurse.
It seems like clinical testing in our first semester, when we would go one by one alone with the instructor for the testing . After one is done, it's another student's turn
Don't get the nerves get to you. I hear you exactly, it's so hard to keep the books away. This too shall pass. You and all April/May test takers are in my prayers. God bless. Sending lots and lots and lots of good luck and positive vibes your way :icon_hug:
