April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

hi moments i have here with me a dictionary of dreams..Water, in general whic is capale of flowing in many directions and taking many forms, symbolises our emotional lives and energies. The meaning of a dream containing water is likely to depend on the form that water takes. For example, deep water tends to suggest either danger (the reisk of drowning) in our emotions) or a desire to explore the depths of some feeling or emotional situation, while a dream of entering water may symbolise the beginning of a new relationship or life situation. Flowing water tends to suggest change and movement in our emotional lives, while calm and stagnant water can imply that we have become bogged down...experts from ~"dictionary of dreams by rose inserra"

Better than last night, maybe it's that rest. I also dreamed about, I think I did for small part of the dream that I just remembering telling myself in my dream, oh gosh I was so nervous while answering questions like I was in some hurry, so I answered the questions fast-fast and then it shut off at I was thinking myself oh 80 something I think, and then I was beating myself in the head about not taking my time to answer the questions, and then in my dream I also remembered telling myself, some poster telling take ur time to answer the questions and I'm telling myself, I didn't do that and feeling misreable about it.

Thank you for the interpretation Micah. The water dream is all over the place, soemtimes, It's Huge and deep I think, some times it's stream, some times I'm just in such surrounding, sometimes, I'm crossing the stream, like taking short cut to get to my destination, sometimes I'm just watching at it trying find a way to get over it; and then last night I just happened to be near big river :stone

Yeah, Micah take a break, go take a shower or something, eat something and then see if that helps bit. We just have to keep praying :nuke:

"The nurse is caring for a client who has a prescription for an Intropin (Dopamine) Drip for 5 mcg/kg/min.

The client weighs 200 pounds. The nurse has 400 mg per 500 ml D5W available. How many milliliters

should the nurse administer to the client each hour?

Record your answer using a whole number."

Can someone show your work here please? thanku

first I conert my 400mg to mcg which would be 400,000 then 200lb/2.2=ninty.nine sorry my #nine won't work. OK take your 5mcg *ninety.nine= 454.5 per minute* 60min= 27270 now we can set it up Desired dose is = 27270 / 400,000 *500ml/? are you still with me? take the 400,000/500ml=800 just to reduce it down. So now you have it at 27270/800=34.0875 which is :yeah: 34 . If you want you can PM me and I will try to make it easier. It really is easy and just a few steps. If you didn't have to convert it is soooo easy. Good Luck.

When you adminiser medication to child/children, do you mix it with juices and other food etc or not?

I thought, mix it, but only with little portion of the drink/food and not like with 8 oz oj etc.

Q.2) Is nailpolish CORROSIVE? Like when a child ingests it donot use IPECAC to induce vomiting. So is it corrosive?

Q. 3) With Arterial Blood Gases, compensated , partially compensated. Pelase someone explain.

When the PH value is normal it's compensated. But what about completely/partially compensated, what does that really mean? Can you please show your work and explain.

Thank you so m uch guys.:bowingpurGod bless

Thank you hun, I got it now. Yesterday, I was confused...Dunno what was going on and even the thing I knew, I stayed there blank. I do not want this to happen in NCLEX exam :crying2:

Quick question:

What are the conversions we should know without fail before we go sit for the exam.

Like:

1 KG = 2.2 Lbs

1 Grain = 60

Things like that ..... please reply. Thank you again for all your help everyone and all helpful posts.

My indicator for compensated and partially compensated is pH...

Normal pH is 7.35-7.45

If pH value is normal at the lower end meaning 7.35 thats acidosis...partially compesated could be abnormal pH but near 7.35. Metabolic and respiratory will depend on the value of bicarbonate and carbon dioxide respectively....this goes true with the higher end of the value which is alkalosis...

Please correct me if I'm wrong...just trying to explain in my own words:)

ORCA2 we make it more clearer...

In Respiratory Acidosis and Alkalosis

1. when compensation occurred, the ph will be within normal limits

2. the blood gas result reflects partial compensation if the bicarbonate is abnormal

3. if uncompensated condition the bicarbonate is normal

Metabolic Acidosis and Alkalosis

1. if compensated has occured the ph will be within limits

2. if it reflects partial compensation pCO2 is abnormal

3. if uncompensated pCO2 is normal..

Thank you Or2Ca & Micah. So which is bad? To be partially compensated or to be uncompensated? Looking at the values, I want to guess to be uncompensated is better than to be partially compensated

well for me it would be better if patient have compensated or uncompensated values rather than partially compensated ..
