April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

I had i big scare first thing this morning before testing. I figured I would do more questions while sitting by the water. But after sitting out there for 45min or so, I started seeing people walking in the street. Then, I realized that there was a March for the cure walk this morning, some type of walk. Then I started freaking out because I didnt know how long the walk was going to last and I had less than 2hrs before test time. I thought I was going to lose my mind. But, they cleared out 45min before my test was suppose to start.

Thank God I made it in time. Plus the receptionist at the testing center must have seen the look on my face. He kind of counseled me to calm me down. Said he use to be an 8th grade counselor. I seriously feel that helped me relax. He did that for about 10-15 mins. Afterwards was a different story.

Well, I walked out of the testing center in a daze. Dont know whether to cry or scream. I had about 6-8 med, alot of priority questions, a good bit of select all that apply questions and a couple cultural questions. In which I know I got those cultural questions wrong. I was looking for a lot more questions related to med-surg. I had a few, but I started getting bummed out when I saw those SATA and priority questions coming back to back. I was ready to get up and leave because I figured if I continued getting those, I must be answering them wrong. I even got the same question asked twice, with only one of the selections different. I dont know what to think. Ive heard different people say different things about the kinds of questions you get. But I dont know. All I can do now is pray for the best. I dont feel terrible about the exam, but I dont feel great either. Good luck to everyone taking it next week.

Congratulations,but what is SATA?

hi guys,

I took the test on the 23rd. Today I checked my results, and guess what? I PASSED!! This is my first time taking NCLEX-RN exam. I graduated from my BSN last December. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I'M SOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! :redpinkhe:coollook:WANNA THANK EVERYONE WHO PRAYED FOR ME & WISHED ME GOOD LUCK & EVERYONE WHO POSTED MESSAGES ON THIS FORUM! ALSO, THANK YOU LORD VERY VERY MUCH!! THIS MUST BE A MAGIC I THINK!!

When I took the test I ran out of questions! I thought to myself "Well, at least I didn't run out of time, and 265 questions means I was very close to the passing/failing line". But after the test I just didn't know what to think!!! I kept checking my scores, checked this morning there were no results available, checked again an hour ago, & found out that the results are there, and the most important part is that I PASSED!!

Mave, please add my name to April 23rd as passed.

For those of you who are testing soon my advise is:

- definitely know infection control!!! e.g. which patient can stay with which patients, which disease needs droplet, contact precautions etc.

There were many infection control questions.

- I had plenty of SATA questions.

- one thing i discovered is that there were so many questions in the following format: asking you "which condition/patient needs a follow-up?"

I did practice tests using Kaplan & Saunders (I personally think Kaplan is better, even though it seems like Kaplan makes it harder than the real test). I usually scored in high 50s & low 60s. Still I can't believe I passed!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

dont worry u have PASSED, when i wrote the first time, i felt the same way too, but i failed anyway, i think its bcos i wasnt just prepared enough, if u did your best in preparing, u'll pass, u dont need to cry yourself out, just smile and be happy and wait for your result, cos freaking out doesnt change your scores, i m testing on thursday, i'm only praying for Gods divine favour and guidiance to succeed.
