April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

SAUNDERS 3rd Edition,

Hello Everyone!!

First I want to congratulate everyone that passed, and those who didn't don't give up, you will pass , and I say this because I went throught the same thing.

Well I know I have never written anything in this forum, but I read it everyday since I failed back in February. Today I found out that I passed, and I can only say that I felt this group was very supportive and caring. I obviously want to thank Suzzanne (you are awesome!!!) and everyone who wrote something everyday, that I was able to relate with. I also want to thank mommentz for her amazing notes. Finally, this group kept me motivated throughout these past months of uncertainty, and I am grateful for that. Although I was never actively communicating, I was there. Thank you guys again. It's a wonderful feeling to pass, and even better because it has been so challenging.

Best of luck to Everyone!!!!! and thanks again..

hi guys,

I took the test on the 23rd. Today I checked my results, and guess what? I PASSED!! This is my first time taking NCLEX-RN exam. I graduated from my BSN last December. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I'M SOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! :redpinkhe:coollook:WANNA THANK EVERYONE WHO PRAYED FOR ME & WISHED ME GOOD LUCK & EVERYONE WHO POSTED MESSAGES ON THIS FORUM! ALSO, THANK YOU LORD VERY VERY MUCH!! THIS MUST BE A MAGIC I THINK!!

When I took the test I ran out of questions! I thought to myself "Well, at least I didn't run out of time, and 265 questions means I was very close to the passing/failing line". But after the test I just didn't know what to think!!! I kept checking my scores, checked this morning there were no results available, checked again an hour ago, & found out that the results are there, and the most important part is that I PASSED!!

Mave, please add my name to April 23rd as passed.

For those of you who are testing soon my advise is:

- definitely know infection control!!! e.g. which patient can stay with which patients, which disease needs droplet, contact precautions etc.

There were many infection control questions.

- I had plenty of SATA questions.

- one thing i discovered is that there were so many questions in the following format: asking you "which condition/patient needs a follow-up?"

I did practice tests using Kaplan & Saunders (I personally think Kaplan is better, even though it seems like Kaplan makes it harder than the real test). I usually scored in high 50s & low 60s. Still I can't believe I passed!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

I studied Saunders and did some of the questions. They are okay to boost your confident and review, but they are either very easy or non-NCLEX type (meaning that they are asking data, not interventions). Kaplan is good because is more close to NCLEX (dang! it is harder than NCLEX)

I used the qbank only.

Good Luck

THANK YOU LANTUENO VERY VERY MUCH!:nuke::bowingpur:heartbeat:bowingpur:nuke: Especially your message encouraged me to take the test. Otherwise, I was even thinking about rescheduling :uhoh3: my test date, 'coz I was scoring in high 50's & mid 60's :banghead:, i got only a few in low 70's. I strongly agree with what you said about Saunders & Kaplan! I liked Kaplan:up: better, though I was scoring lower on that. I used Kaplan Strategies book & CD, Kaplan Question Trainer CD, Saunder's Q&A book & CD, and a little bit of NCLEX-RN 3500 CD. Also, thank you :heartbeat:bow::heartbeat:bow: Mave & Rizapride & EVERYONE who posted :typing on this forum!!! :nuke::bowingpur You guys are awesome!!! :redpinkhe:nurse::redpinkhe

Best of luck to those who are testing soon!!

Please say a prayer for me on tomorrow. I wasnt very nervous but I notice as the hours approach, I am getting a little nervous. And that's not what I want to be. One of my classmates took her NCLEX-PN today and told me how it was for her. Kind of intimidating. But keep me your prayers. I will probably turn in soon. I just feel like reviewing up until 11am tomorrow. But I know thats not a good idea. I would be too exhausted to even think straight. Well, im going to stop babbling now. Thanks so much. I havent posted much. But have kept up reading, it has been very helpful.

Thanks,
