  1. I have been offered a job in Dubai under DHA via Skills Agency in Manila. 7,802 AED or about 80 to 85,000 pesos is the whole package. Accommodation and transportation is not free but we will be provided a housing for 600 AED (2 in a room) and 1000 AED (solo). Is this already enough to survive in Dubai and at the same time save at least 35-40,000 pesos/month? Do you also have any idea about the working conditions in DHA hospitals? Many thanks!
  2. Hi! I just want to verify some details in filling-out the Endorsement Form of Texas BON. There's a space there for writing all your licenses. However since I did not get a license from CA-BON since I do not have a SSN, should I still write something there or just leave it blank?
  3. Hi. I'm a fairly new NICU nurse and it was my first time last night to encounter a neonate who expired that was initially diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. I would just like to know what would be the initial management for newborns with those condition? For those who were managed early, what's the prognosis? Just a background: Infant was only 2 days old, delivered by a midwife @home and according to the mother was being breastfed when he suddenly started coughing. After tapping his back, he was apparently well until few hours PTA when he became cyanotic. When the baby was transferred from the ER to the NICU, he was already limp, has a plethoric face? pupils were fixed and was being ambubagged. He expired. Thank you very much in advance.
  4. I really envy those of you who are younger than me and took up Nursing as their first course. Obviously I am second courser who took up nursing due to pressure from my relatives who are abroad. If only I could turn back the time... Anyway, like LadyHazy I've really only considered working in a hospital. My primary goal is to work as staff nurse abroad and I can't fulfill that if I work in other areas. That's what most of the agencies I've been to are telling me. The only thing that's supporting my bum life right now is my online business. Without that, I'd be asking for support again from my parents which is a bit embarrassing considering I'm already 29 years old. I've also considered enrolling myself in MAN/MSN online so I can at least also teach part-time. I have this friend who also worked for a big telecom company like you medic28. But she resigned so she can work in a call center for nurses in Makati. She also never did any volunteers/trainings in hospitals.
  5. Medic28: Instead of doing unpaid work, what would you suggest the unemployed nurses do to help them achieve their goal of working abroad as a hospital staff nurse? Most if not all hospitals elsewhere would only hire those who have at least a year of hospital experience. Let's say we do boycott the hospitals' training program, what else can be done to enhance our nursing skills so that we will have better chances of getting hired compared to those nurses who volunteered/trained in the hospital we are applying for? I really want to know other options. Masters degree perhaps? work as a school/industrial nurse? be a private duty nurse?
  6. As much as I am against UNPAID NURSING WORK, I have subjected myself to almost 8 months of this crap in 2 different hospitals. Why? I need the experience. I need the skills. I need to improve my knowledge. I need "connections". And most importantly, a lot if not all of the local hospitals would ONLY hire those who volunteered/trained with them (well if you know someone from inside then that would also get you hired). Never mind that I have a high board rating or that I got good grades in school or that I have excellent nursings skills. The PNA can't do a damn thing and government officials are too busy putting money in their pockets to notice this so called exploitation. So what should an unemployed nurse do?
  7. HI MEDIC28! What's the name of the agency the you applied to? The one who was offering you the position of EMT nurse? Kindly send me a PM. Thanks!
  8. HI there! Sorry but I think you can't post email ads here. Just PM me if you can already.
  9. do they still accept applicants?
  10. Hi! I was not allowed to post the list here so you can just PM me your email ads so I can send it to you guys. jsb831: Sorry but I think they stopped accepting applicants for this coming batch. Try going there around last week of August or first week of September to apply for the Feb-Aug Batch. And yes a certificate of completion will be given to all those who will finish the 6-month residency program. Requirements will only be submitted AFTER you have passed the exam. Try to do some back reading for more information. GOOD LUCK!
  11. Hi there! Nope. I've only been training there for almost 5 months already under the RN Residency Program. But some of our co-trainees were accepted as contractuals (those with backers only of course). I think they earn 12K+++ a month as a contractual. Bed capacity per ward I think differs. In one the wards I was assigned, we have a census of 30-38 patients and they have a 50 bed capacity there. By the way, I think V.Luna has a 1000++ total bed capacity. Re working environment, like what I have mentioned in my earlier posts, I was very lucky to have been assigned in an area with the nicest staff and where a lot of procedures are being done. GOOD LUCK!
  12. Hi there! First of all congratulations to you! Anyway, we usually go on duty 5 days a week (M-F) but in most wards we can choose our off days. Meaning we can go on duty every weekends and have our offs during weekdays. Sorry to inform you this but we do not receive any form of compensation (except for the 25kilos of rice we got for free 2 weeks ago!). Not a single cent my dear. But I guess most if not all of the hospitals that provide training also do the same. We're lucky we don't have to pay for the training that's why a lot of RNs want to apply for this residency program.
  13. Just write a letter of request to the board together with the US postal money order.:nuke: Thanks so much!!!
  14. you're very much welcome. i guess you can request for 2 as long as you pay for it.:) hi there! what are the steps in securing a pass letter form ca board? do i just write a letter of request and mail it to them? or do i have to download a form from ca bon website? and how should i send the payment? really hoping for your reply! thanks so much!
  15. I just include it under my licenses/certifications: "Licensed IV Therapist by ANSAP, 2008" You can also add it under "Trainings"
