April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

Can anyone PLEASE help me understand when you put a warm compress versus a cold compress.... I don't understand the difference with warm and cold comfort measures...

EX: Cellulitis... I assumed because of the "itis" that it is some type of inflammation.... and with inflamation comes warmth of that area... so I assumed that you place a cold compress... but I was WRONG! You place a warm compress....

Can anyone ENLIGHTEN me... I am testing in 28 days :crying2::bluecry1::sniff::o:scrying::sniff:

Guys, is there anything that anyone is struggling with the most? I know it's different for all of us, but if we can get a similar census going on who has the most trouble with what, we could all probably help each other much better than one person doing one thing and another waiting for something else. :)

I think we need a vote.

I am having problems with Pharmacology!!! How to know side effects of drugs? Most drug questions, I just assume I will get wrong! Other than that I vote for Musculoskeletal!

My vote: Meds

Priority/delegation

Obe/Peds

Thank you.

And also, when for Musculoskeletal:

You go "up with a good foot," ----- "down with a bad foot"

GOOD guys go UP to heaven, and BAD guy go DOWN to hell. - I'm going to remember it like this. I dunno, I read and forget so fast, so I have to make up stuffs to retain it.

rn's draw up the regular insulin before the nph insulin.

to add to what you got : ), just for revision:

you first draw up air in your syringe (total amount/dose of insulin you'll be drawing combing r + n)

inject air into nph vial

inject air into regular vial

draw from regular vial

draw from nph vial.

So with cellulitis - warm compress. I don't know the rational behind that either. Someone plesae help us.

I'll just post something on cellulitis, since we are already on it:

Cellulitis: Inflammation of underlying tissue due to bacterial infection that might have entered into ur skin thru cuts, burns etc.

Assessment: S/S: Warm, swollen, redness to the area, pain and tenderness.

Intervetnion: Elevate the infected area. (Rational: to relieve pain and increase comfort level)

Rest the infected area.

Someone please go over hot/cold treatments with infection/sprains etc. Thank you so much :nurse:'s.
