Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
Hey iam also taking my NCLEX on april 23rd and iam really scared coz for me dis is for the first time. I dont have much idea about the type of questions asked and whether i may qualify or not. Iam using lippincotts and saunders . Any tips or suggestions plz
Practice as many questions as you can and make sure you understand the rationale on the ones you get wrong

hello april group,
i'll be taking nclex exam x3 on april 3rd....... add me to ur list....
lets encourage eachother...and nail this exam down....
god bless you all.... and best of luck
1. Key words to look for in avoiding an answer: ALWAYS, NEVER, STRICT, VIGOURSLY, EXCESSIVELY, ALL
2. Key words to look for in choosing an answer: Adequate, Moderate, Average, Coordinated, Progressive, MILD
3. Opposite answers- lots of times when there are opposite answer choice (ex: stay in bed vs ambulate) one of them is correct (but this is not always true but occurs A LOT)
4. All Alike But One: when you have three answer choices that are very similar and one is very different, it is highly likely that the different on is the answer-- you can pick the answer before reading the question (ex: a. platelet b. hemoglobin c. hematocrit d. white blood cells-- the correct answer was white blood cells and we don't even know the question!). I saw that alot in Saunders!
5. Also with drugs-- if you see two drugs with the same ending, they are probably from the same family, with the same action and both can't be the right answer so you could most likely eliminate both choices (ex predisone and cortisone.)
6. Read the question and simlify it in yoiu own terms. Then answer it first before looking at the answer choices.... then look at the choices and try to find one most similiar to what you predicted.
hi you guys! i would like to join this group as i would be taking the test on april 14 as of right now i feel like throwing up everytime i think about the test! :barf02:but i guess thats all of us hehe...

I got a private message from a user that is taking the test in April just thought that it might benefit some others. Hope this helps
v The test isn’t really that bad. You will think that you are absolutely an idiot and that you are failing the heck out of the thing, but when you pass and looking back you will realize it wasn’t that bad.
v A good thing to know is if you are getting prioritizing, delegation, and choose all that apply, you are doing pretty good ( meaning you have a great chance of it cutting off at 75). I didn’t know that until AFTER I took the test, but I have talked with many ppl that has said the same thing. If you are getting more generalized question, common knowledge questions you may have to go with a little more questions. I have also seen a trend that the last question you take is a good indicator of how you did. Meaning: that if the last question you got right then you passed and if you had know idea about the question and were sure you got it wrong and it cut off you probable didn’t pass. Now I don’t know if that is true but the lady running the testing when I took it told me that and some of my friends also said that held true. Just some things to keep in mind.
v The best thing that you can remember is DO NOT study the night before taking the test, take a night off and relax, I went to a hotel near the testing center and just chilled and that was some of the BEST advice that I had got form anyone. I have a 4 yo daughter and a husband and it was so nice just to settle down for a great nights sleep. I also found the testing center the night before so that I would know exactly where it was.
v Some things that I would REALLY focus on are prioritizing, delegation, ABC and Maslow’s hierarch of need. And NO matter what even in the real world if someone is bleeding to death and you also have someone in the answers that is DIB……. ALWAYS use your ABC…. Go to the DIB first, no mater how stupid it may seem. Because when you are taking the NCLEX you are in a PERFECT hospital!!!! I hope this helped, fell free to message me anytime. I am also going to post this on the April test takers board… it was such a great question!!!
