hi! i hope someone can help me. i am a graduate of nursing in the philippines (batch 2009) and i'm planning to apply for the state boards in california. i have been checking the website www.rn.ca.gov for information.
in the information i got from the site it says, "transcripts are required from all colleges and/or universities you attended that reflect courses required for a degree in nursing, including general education course requirements and all nursing courses."
before i started to take up nursing on 2006, i was already a graduate of ab mass communication on 2002 from a university different from where i finished my nursing. i also took some units (for another course) from another university before i shifted to mass comm. in both these schools, some minor subjects (like english, philosophy, algebra, etc) were credited in my nursing curriculum. my question is, would i need to request for transcript from them too? then if these transcripts have to be directly sent from the schools to the california board of nursing, then they will have to arrive separately - will that be okay?
also, would the transcript need to indicate "for foreign exam purposes only"?
thank you.

Hi! Last November 16th I have submitted all my requirements to the CaBRN. How long would it take before I receive my eligibility? Also, can anyone tell me how do I go about the process if I decide take the exam in the US? I have an Aunt in Ca with whom I can stay with. I currently have a valid passport but have never tried applying for a US Visa. Would I need to apply for a tourist visa then? What are the chances of me getting approved for one? -- Note that I am currently unemployed since I have been preparing for my NCLEX. Would it in anyway increase my chances of getting approved for a tourist visa if I would apply for my child and I together?
Thanks.
As long as you have your ATT then you can sit the exam where ever it is held. If in the US you should be able to schedule it online but if you take it outside the US you have to call to schedule it. Not sure where you are from but if you need a tourist visa to visit the US then you need to apply for one and show plenty of ties and proof that you intend to return home once your visit is finished. We can't guarantee you will get one so I would suggest you do not schedule exam until you have tourist visa in hand (just in case)
Thank you, Silverdragon102.
I have been browsing the NCSBN website and I see that there will be a new test plan that will take effect this April of 2010. Well all of my review materials are based only on the previous 2007 test plan and these are all I have been reading lately. I hope to be able to receive my eligibility soonest so I can register, schedule, and take the exam before April... But if ever I don't meet that timeframe, would that mean that I would have study all over again based on the 2010 test plan?
I got my Eligibility from Ca the other day. They are pretty quick! Wasn't expecting it in another few weeks.
So what's next after this? Is this the part where I need to register at the Pearsonvue online so I can get an ATT? Do I need to pay the full $350 ($200 plus $150 for testing outside of US) right away?

Yes, you can now register at PearsonVue. Good luck.
I emailed CA BRN to followup the status of my NCLEX application. How long do they usually reply?
I submiited my application June 2009. Got a reply on July 2009 asking for copy of my license. Sent copy of my license October 2009 and until now I've been waiting for my eligibility? Do I need to send them an email again? Or call them? I heard that it's hard to contact the BRN.
As long as they are sealed and are stamped across the lip where the seal is you should be OK to send together.Originally Posted by alma_kyle
Thanks for the quick reply.Today I got my Transcripts from both schools where I have graduated college. Both are sealed but in my possession. Now I am wondering if it's okay to send them both in one package thru Fedex? Or would they have to be sent individually from a post office near the school? I mean, does it matter where they were sent from? Would the Ca BRN question it if they came together considering that these are transcripts from two different universities in two different cities?
Hi guys, i just want to verify this:
So if i have 2 transcripts (sealed and stamped) from 2 different schools other than the Nursing school, I can send those 2 transcripts together with the application, fingerprint, etc? So it doesnt have to come directly from the school?
Thank you
