hi! i hope someone can help me. i am a graduate of nursing in the philippines (batch 2009) and i'm planning to apply for the state boards in california. i have been checking the website www.rn.ca.gov for information.
in the information i got from the site it says, "transcripts are required from all colleges and/or universities you attended that reflect courses required for a degree in nursing, including general education course requirements and all nursing courses."
before i started to take up nursing on 2006, i was already a graduate of ab mass communication on 2002 from a university different from where i finished my nursing. i also took some units (for another course) from another university before i shifted to mass comm. in both these schools, some minor subjects (like english, philosophy, algebra, etc) were credited in my nursing curriculum. my question is, would i need to request for transcript from them too? then if these transcripts have to be directly sent from the schools to the california board of nursing, then they will have to arrive separately - will that be okay?
also, would the transcript need to indicate "for foreign exam purposes only"?
thank you.

Hi! Last week I have received a confirmation from Fedex that my documents (Application for Examination and all other requirements) have been successfully delivered to the Ca BRN.
So how long do I wait till I get a response from the Ca BRN? Is it what they call the "Eligibility" that I should receive from them?
Thanks.

hi!
yes, after reviewing your documents/credentials you will receive an eligibility letter from them together with a bulletin/booklet. For how long you gonna wait for it? it varies, depending on the volume of applications they receive,,plus they reviewed the application based on individual cases. I for one received my eligibility within 4 months, my friend got hers in 3 months time considering we both mailed the application on the same date.
I guess the next logical step is to take your review so that when you become eligible to proceed with the registration ,you are ready already....(can be done online, so in just 2 days you'll have your ATT or Authorization to Test).
Gooluck.
Okay, I see. So after I receive my eligibility, how do I get an ATT? Is that the one that can be done online? And what's next after that? Is it possible that I finish the process by early next year?
Thanks for the info. I frequently get confused about which steps come first.
I have started doing my self-review even before I have started the application process but I really plan to enroll in a review class as soon as get the schedule for the exam. For now I've been kind of putting off the idea of enrolling because I am currently employed in a non-hospital setting. I plan to quit my job when I have my timeframe all figured-out. To do that, I would need to get an idea of the whole picture. :-)
Im applying for Carlifonia. In the application it says "All applicants for licensure by examination are required to complete and submit one (1) set of fingerprints.
All requests from the Board of Registered Nursing for background checks of applicants must be submitted
to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)".
One set, is that one card??
We used live scan, so therefore there were no cards needed. What they mean by one set of finger prints meaning you will see 10 finger prints. 5 for your left hand and 5 for your right hand. If that's all on one card, then there's your set. If you have 5 finger prints on one card and 5 on the other card then you have to submit both cards. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
