I took HESI for the first time this morning. I got a 1063; I've not used the HESI review book, only regular NCLEX-RN materials. As for now, I can't really remember anything that was on the test... maybe in a few hours I'll think of something and some sage advice...

I must take the HESI in order to apply to nursing school. Can someone please tell me where I can find resourceful information/a studyguide to help me with this examination. How does the HESI differ from the NCLEX??

We had to do it in our last semester, but at my other school we had to do ATI testing every quarter and had to get a certain percentage correct or we couldn't pass the class. It's not too bad, but it's like the NCLEX so critical thinking's a must! :)

I took the HESI in December. I got an 1052. The only thing I used to study was Saunders NCLEX book

I took a HESI Mid-cirricular last semester I got a 953...I did not study at all...not one bit!! I also took it at home with all three of my kids here who of course were not behaving...so I was OK with that score! We will be taking a couple more this semseter..it is our last semester!!

I completed my nursing program 12/06. I took my exit exam and failed each time. My school has kicked me out and I'm left without a degree. Its 4 students in my situation. We received no remediation each time I took the exam only a print out of our results. We have been trying to file a grivence, but we are getting the run around. On top of all of this 2 of the students (including myself) lost veryting in Hurricane Katrina and is now without the one thing I had to look forward to. Our DON has told us to try Nurse Assisting as a means of employment. If any has been through this and has later received their degree, please reply.

could you retake your last semester, restudy for the HESI using tips from those of us who have passed.. will they allow you readmittance?

if not that, what about re doing your final semester elsewhere? there has to be SOMETHING you can do, those years of school have to count for something!

Thank you so much for replying. No we can't redo our semester because we were the last class of the old program. They are phasing out that particular program so that class no longer exists at our school. We received a failing grade in Med Surg 3 because we didn't meet the 850 requirement even though we passed with a B. No other school will take our classes so we will have to start reapply to the program and start over. We even asked to go and take the HUSRT review and show proof and then sit for our state boards, but they said no. We are in the process of filing a grivience. Please pray for us and thanks again for responding.

I dont understand why no other school will take you. Your Med Surg 1 and 2 should be transferrable to another nurding program and you should only have to take your last semester. there is no reason you should have to start from scratch, you only "failed" the last part.

I dont understand why no other school will take you. Your Med Surg 1 and 2 should be transferrable to another nurding program and you should only have to take your last semester. there is no reason you should have to start from scratch, you only "failed" the last part.

In Alabama, the old nursing school curriculums were handled by each school individually. Each school had their own curriculum approved by the state board. There was no uniformity, and thus, little transferability as school's claimed "it's not equivalent". The new curriculum (of which the first graduates will be the May '07 class) is standardized by the state board to utilize the same materials, the same class objectives, etc. The new curriculum should be more readily transferable statewide.

Personally, I believe a remedial course should be available after failing to achieve the mandatory grade on the HESI. After the remedial course has been successfully completed, the student should be allowed to take the HESI again.
