Just wondering if you are studying while on summer break? If so, please share how you are fitting it in, and what your study schedule has been. I thought I would be able to get more studying done, but I have been VERY busy...trying to clean out clutter, family time, getting ready for vacation, church work, etc....so any adivce you have would be much appreciated!

I know I should be working ahead and stuff like that, but I'm having far too much fun reading books for FUN and only working full time. Working full time without school at the same time is almost like a vacation after last semester lol!

Basically, I know that if I don't enjoy the summer before nursing school starts, I'll really regret it about... October or so :)

I am.. I have an NCLEX review book.. as well as reading some ahead for my next term.. which is Chronic....

I have Chronic and Complex health problems next semester and I have no idea what that entails...

Can anyone shed any light on the situation? I tried to find a course description but no luck.

Call your college or email the advertised instructor for an advanced copy of the syllabus. I found this on Google:

Like a month before class starts Im going to start studying as if I have a cumulative final on the first day of class ....Plus Im going to read like the first chapter, a week before class. I think thats it for now. Thats the plan stan

Sounds like a med/surg class to me. What level class is it? Are you doing your BSN or ASN? Our two major Med/Surg class Common concepts of adult health and Complex problems of adult health. Sounds similar to that. A little cancer, and select problems from each organ system. Never know!

It's last semester of the ASN (It's a BSN programs where you can leave with your ASN if you choose). I was thinking the same thing. We have already had patho and one med surg class, but that one was very concerned with pharmacology.

OMgoodness.yes.But didnt quite expect what Id got myself into. I worked for 9 years as a hopital LPN in house float.Usually full time all over the hospital and sometimes to 2 sister hospitals. But became ill..tried doing chemo and cutting to part time..but too hard.. kept catching things. 3 years later I realized I was really well enough to get myself back to work part time and work back up to full time and considered takeing classes to prepare for entrance to last 2 nursing blocks to get AAS RN and HEY ..while im at it..WHY NOT go ahead and get Bsn.I started by taking a refresher semester..and Pharm.Found the hospital had gone live with a whole computerized system and so I learned all that. Then started taking my micro. Algebra, chem, path, etc etc etc. Thought I was ready to finally just take that " little hesi exam" and the Net entrance..and Id "review a little bit" and take it this summer.

HA..a little bit?

Its been 12 hours a day studying every Anatomy and phys note. chem physics..blagh blagh blagh....until I m redy to fall asleep on table at night.

Not complaining really. Its stimulating.Makes me feel alive and strong. :o) but had some bumps in the road.( dont we all?) totaled my car..euthanized a pet..and said goodbye to a favorite niece finally...who was also in nursing school and died ( 21 years old) A Lot of grief for one short year.

WHEW..boy.My coffee is kicking in...better go hit the books while the energy is flowing:O) but YES studying my fanny off this summer.I took My basic courses for LPN 15 years ago.Had a family and 2 teens (I home schooled one) ..so had to piece work it.Took her to library with me..then we'd do lunch..research..meet with her tutors..etc.etc..this was still in progress my first semester of nursing school. (and daughter graduated with honors last semester with a degree in english ..minor in foriegn language, other daughter at the same time same college..with an elementary education degree.*Proud Mom takes a bow:O) * grin.) , so..I had to go slow..and dont regret a moment of it.But I am kind of starting over.

Happy studying folks.Remember,,if your brain works and you can read.., and walk, and dress yourself..and attend college....you are more fortunate than a rather large percentage of the world.SO try to enjoy it.Think of it as alzhiemers protection :o) *

yes, i read lippincott's manual of nursing practice a few minutes each day. i keep it beside the bed. i know this fall i'm doing mental health, renal, muscular, skeletal, and gi disorders, so i'm reading about those in particular.

I'm studying alot. I just finished first semester so i am just reviewing my ati stuff and my exam notes I did. Just review, not reading ahead. I love studying this way...no pressure.

im doing an internship right now so ive only done some reading up on things related to that like drugs, certain procedures or diagnoses ive seen etc. after that ends this week i am doing nothing but relaxing for the next 5 weeks. :smokin:

I have not done a whole lot yet this summer. I did a little NCLEX review, but not much else. I just starting purchasing my text books for next semester though and I plan to start to brush up a bit before classes start.

I'm not taking anything this summer, I'm starting the nursing program in the fall. I don't have my books yet, the bookstore doesn't open for fall until August 3rd. But I bought a dosage calculations book and I've been slowly going through that. I planned on reading some of my A&P book to brush up on a few things....but I have been enjoying the summer and haven't gotten to that yet, lol.
