Anyone See Blosson Brown on the I am Cait show?

Published

I was watching I Am Cait and a trans woman named Blossom Brown said she was denied entrance into nursing schoolbecause she is trans. She ended up getting a check presented to her on the Ellen show for $20,000 to help her get into nursing school. Has anyone else been following this story? If so what are your thoughts?

It is entirely possible that an admissions counselor in the deep South would reject a six foot three trans woman.

I just can't get behind the claim. I mean how many of your applications asked you about your sexual orientation?

Exactly. She's smart enough to not name the schools she applied to

If she can't get admission what good is a tuition check going to do?

She admitted she had a lower GPA to start and likely why she was denied at least the first time and why she had to get better grades.

I think she's going to hurt her chances at admission rather than increase her admission opportunities by doing the reality TV circuit

You're really writing a story here for her. You are already lining up her lawsuits.

Yeaahhhhh....I don't think I'm coming up with anything original ;)

I live in the conservative Midwest and there was a transgendered student doing clinicals at our small-town critical access center. She had no problems from anybody that I am aware of. I wondered if Mz. Brown was really denied entrance into nursing school.

Does anyone remember the Charm School finalist who wanted to win the 50k soooo bad, so that she could finally quit stripping and go to nursing school?

I live in the south and go to nursing school in the south, we have a very diverse student population. Furthermore, only 1 of the schools I even applied to required an interview - the majority of them were based on application only. I think it is far more likely that she doesn't have the background necessary to be competitive in a nursing program. She also kept bringing up her ACT score in her interview on Ellen - which doesn't mean anything to a nursing admissions committee.

According to this article, it looks like Blossom identified that she is trans on her nursing school applications. The schools did not give a reason why she was denied, she is speculating that it is because she is trans.

That article indicates that she is now in a wait list. Which says, to me, that she isn't academically strong enough for full admittance. I think she is making an issue where there is none.

She may not have been well prepared for a BSN program because Mississippi ranks 51st in public education .

Except for vaccines!

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

She may have been making an issue where there was none, but it resulted in colleges from across the country contacting her and no college is going to deny her entry into their nursing program now. The college that Blossom chooses to go to will benefit from the free advertising they will get when Blossom does follows up on the Ellen show.

And then she will be a Celebrity Nurse, and will get her own reality show on Lifetime or Logo.

Unless she can't pass Boards because she really isn't cut out to be a nurse, in which case she will play the gender discrimination card again, get more interviews, and some BON will give her a gratis license to avoid the unpleasant publicity. (Being mostly sarcastic here, folks).

Apparently Snowflakes come in all shapes and sizes. This one just has two celebrities helping her be Special.
