Anyone See Blosson Brown on the I am Cait show?

Published

I was watching I Am Cait and a trans woman named Blossom Brown said she was denied entrance into nursing schoolbecause she is trans. She ended up getting a check presented to her on the Ellen show for $20,000 to help her get into nursing school. Has anyone else been following this story? If so what are your thoughts?

I have a hard time accepting that a nursing school would refuse tuition money from a person who met all requirements and would otherwise earn a seat. Maybe if they were in a very conservative part of the country, but even then, I'd think they'd probably have the smarts to not say it was d/t being transgender.

I can see employers discriminating, but they are not in the same $$ position! And they certainly would not give a reason, just file the resume in the circular file along with everyone else they didn't like.

I agree that the whole thing sounds fishy to me, and we only have the individual's version of the situation. It may be that she got turned down by the schools and is making the assumption that that's the reason why.

This crossed my mind, too!!

First, I refuse to watch that show because I believe it is the exact reason this country is going into the ground. Not because of the trans stuff but the reality tv crap

Second, how typical of our generation. Didn't get what we want, lets make up excuses for why we didn't get it other than we weren't a good candidate. Bunch of crap it is. She wants to be in nursing school but sorry, the world needs ditch diggers too.

I did a quick Google search, so I could see if there was more (readily available info) on the story. There isn't; in a nutshell "Blossom" says she has been refused admission solely because she is a transgendered individual.

I can't quite picture the admissions department of any school....let alone SIX of them....telling her that THIS was why she was denied entry. One would have to assume that these schools are completely oblivious to the litigious nature of our society and therefore think there will be zero repercussions to sexual discrimination.

Let's just consider that litigious nature for one more minute, though: can you imagine the position the school would be in that eventually ACCEPTS this student? Meaning....she does poorly on a paper....it was discrimination. She fails an exam....it was because she's transgendered. She fails to pass a clinical evaluation....obviously, it's because the instructor evaluating her doesn't like transgender people.

Unless she passes with flying colors, I can see a WORLD of crap heading the way of the administration of this person's future nursing school!

You're really writing a story here for her. You are already lining up her lawsuits.

Here's the thing: if Blossom really was denied admission on the basis of being a transgender woman, the Caitlyn's and Ellens in her life would have already paid for her to fight the legal battles. Like someone said earlier it's probably just a PR stunt. What I find problematic is this individual's ability to spread this type of information without anyone vetting her story.

It is scripted TV show.

It is looking for ratings to make money profit for the channel.

This is not reality.

I agree-IMO these shows are contributing to the dumbing down of society in general.

I have nothing against transgendered folks. But what Caitlyn Jenner is doing, I believe, isn't helping them. Plus she is irritating as all get out. She was before when she was a he!

Excellent documentary on Showtime about sexual realignment surgery.

Showtime : L Word Mississippi: Hate The Sin

Another very good documentary on Showtime.

It couldn't have been easy for Blossom Brown trying to live as a

transgendered woman in

Mississippi.

So, she was just on Ellen, with Caitlyn Jenner. She says she was denied 6 times, primarily because she's transgendered. Claims to have a "good GPA, I make all A's and did well on my ACTs" and is graduating from Mississippi University for Women.

I just can't get behind the claim. I mean how many of your applications asked you about your sexual orientation?
