Hi,
I studied Saunders book with CD. Mainly the 5000 question bank and studied the rationale. I also used Kaplan and found the Kaplan question design to be similar to NCLEX. Also when answering, I tried to pay attention to ABCs and Maslow's Heirarchy when answering questions and this seemed to pave the way to udnerstanding.
Good luck
Congratulations on graduating!
I qualified in 1987 as an RN in the UK and had a seven year break from nursing before being given the go ahead by the state BoN to take the NCLEX.
I also studied the Saunders Review and a Kaplan book on how to pass the NCLEX at home alone for about three months - I passed at 75 questions. The Maslow and ABC really helped - in addition, I found it was possible to eliminate the wrong answers, even if I didn't know a great deal about the question matter, and make an educated "guess"...
However, everyone else I've met in the US who has recently graduated enrolled on the whole Kaplan course. The new grads were able to get the course fees paid by their employer once they signed on the dotted line.
Good luck!
I used Exam Cram and did all of the questions. Also had a few Kaplan questions from the internet and Saunders. Do the questions from the CD and find the rationale for what you miss. The NCLEX is passable using Maslow, ABC's, and a good dose of common sense. I also passed in 75 questions. You will be fine!!!!!!
