hI,
this is my first post. I am planning on applying for nursing program at HCC. Is there anyone here from HCC and would like to share some of insiders of that program? thanks!
lol! no, i didn't know his lab tests were timed and so coordinated. hmmmm....i definitely appreciate getting that information before hand. i'm in a&p i lab now.....we never have lab reports to do/turn in and our lab tests are very random. we are able to go in pretty much at any time during the scheduled class session, pick any station, stay as long as we want at that station and go back to it as many times as we need to. my lab professor is great.....and i love that he's so laid back (i have found that when i am unsure the first time around, the answer will usually come the 2nd or 3rd time...ha!). oh well, i'll get over it.....lol! please feel free to share any other information about **** lab class. :)if i haven't expressed it enough already, know....you have been an awesome resource!
i do have a few specific questions about a&p ii lecture, if you don't mind:
for lectures, does **** use powerpoint slides and if so, does he provide those to the class or must you rely solely on your own notes? btw, i definitely plan to purchase a digital recorder for this class and micro (if i choose to stay w/ treat). i'm really excited about taking him.....b/c it looks like his teaching style is very different from my a&p i lecture professor (my a&p i lab and lecture professors are different). i believe my lecture professor this semester was a good choice for i (more anatomy/memorization), but will not necessarily be good for ii (more physiology).
i hear **** study guide is the test. is that entirely accurate? for a&p i, we're using the marieb book for lecture, which i have a love/hate relationship w/ currently (loved it at the beginning of the semester, absolutely hate it now since we've moved on to the nervous system, cns, pns and ans chapters). ahhh!!!!! :lol2:i love my current professor....he is super sweet and a good professor. however, i do rely heavily on his powerpoint slides (which are taken straight from the book), his test review sheets and my own reading of the textbook when preparing for exams. i do not take a lot of notes during class lecture....really no need to.
having taken **** 3x, can you provide a recommendation for studying/preparing for his 'killer' exams.....especially for this 7 week summer course? would you say a skim of the book is sufficient, so long as i attend every class, review the lecture and my class notes thoroughly and know his study guide in and out/backwards and forwards, cross checking w/ the text for those areas that i am not as clear on? or will i also need to read everything in the textbook in order to do well...meaning "a"?
just thought i'd give it another shot.....i will be starting **** class in about a week and i was wondering if anyone out there in allnurses land :) with experience in his classes wished to share any pointers for studying/preparing for his lecture exams.
**** has consistently negative opinions, both on ratemyprofessor and from people i've spoken with on campus. If you can get into **** lecture and **** lab do it. In **** lecture the notes you take are the exam, no suprises. He also gives out study guides. The questions for the exams are literally the questions (word for word) from the study guides.
If you can get into **** lab, do it. She's a vet and VERY laid back. I got a question wrong on a tissue sample on the first lab exam, she crossed the incorrect portion out, wrote the correct info in, and gave me full credit for the question. She let's you know in advance exactly what's going to be on the exams. She also doesn't count off for spelling (if your interpretation is w/in reason of course).

Thanks because I am considering Microbiology instead. I really do not want to be taking classes at St pete College downtown with the Rays traffic . USF only offers the A&PI course online which is not may way of learning.
I go to the Dale Mabry campus. I took **** for Micro lecture, but not for the lab. I highly recommend not taking him for the lab as he makes it pretty hard. His lecture is easy as long as you take notes. Try to get **** for Micro lab, he's the best. I am taking A&P 1 w/lab in the fall with ****. Good luck to you!
That's too bad, I was hoping he would be my A&P lab professor this fall (since the name for the professor isn't posted yet) ugh...
Honestly, I'm not 100%. I wanted to take him for Micro/Micro Lab either this Summer or in the Fall, but when I talked to him this semester, he just repeated that he was taking a break (w/ a smile)...not sure how long his break will last.
He's come out of retirement before. Hopefully, this break won't last too long.
