Hi!
I was just wondering of all the people who got into the program this year, what were your NET scores? Did anyone get in with an 85 composite score or lower?? If so, WHAT WAS YOUR READING AND MATH SCORES? I just took my NET yesterday for the third time and got an 85 composite. Math was a 96 and reading was a 73. I know it could all be different this year, but i was just wondering because i really want to get into the 2009 program!! Anyone and everyone, PLEASE let me know!!!!
Thanks:bow:
Hey! no i am not done with my pre-reqs. :icon_roll I did have some done from my recent college. i am taking general psych and ENG 2 right now. Then ill still have abnormal psych, lifespan, anatomy and physiology! (unfortunately) and it sucks because you have to take anatomy b4 physiology and DCCC doesnt offer anatomy next semester (they only have it during fall and summer1 sessions). so ill have to cram anatomy and physiology into summer sessions. and i heard those classes fill up within like the first hours registration opens! so you have to be quick. are you going to take any b4 the program? honestly, i just dont think i will have time to take pre-reqs AND nursing courses at the same time (and i think i speak for many other people as well) because the nursing classes are going to take up most of your week anyways, ya know. plus, i just want to focus on the nursing classes, and not have to worry about english, psych and other classes. (that is IF i get in!) So, i am really trying to get them out of the way.
Yes, i did purchase the NET practice tests from their site a while ago. I actually did twice! (even though its the same test) i studied that thing like crazy! and yes, it was very helpful, as well as their study guide. I agree, there definatly are not too many things to study from when it comes to this test, which SUCKS! I really think there should be more practice tests available. After all, practice makes perfect, right! So, yes really i have just been looking over the same things over and over. i am doing some of the same practice tests, and just trying to understand why i got certain ones wrong, and even why i got certain ones right. I read the study guide over and over, highliting key points to remember. I even take notes as i do practice tests and learn the to-do's and not-to-do's.

MAIN IDEA- serves as an umbrella structure for the whole paragraph. Make sure all key points can be incorporated in the answer.
INFERENCE- will predict a conclusion from the paragraph, but will NOT predict a conclusion discussing things OTHER THAN the main idea or details.
PREDICTING OUTCOMES- A predicted outcome is SUPPORTED by the main idea, and BASED ON possible inferences.
~These, to me, are very important to remember when concentrating on these types of questions. maybe they will help you too! Or anyone else reading!
~Thanks for the sites, and check your private messages!

you are right that anatomy and physiology fill up very fast. but if you are accepted into the nursing program you get priority. they let you register at the first orientation/info session, which is before the official registration date for the rest of the college. i think it was in march. so don't worry about not getting in if you are accepted into the program.
and you definitely want to get as many pre-req's out of the way as you can. the nursing class and clinicals will take up all of your free time. i can't imagine if i had to have other classes right now. but there are quite a few people in my class who are also taking anatomy. i don't know how they do it.
good luck with the net!!

I don't mind the questions! I had a lot of them too before I started the program.
I am in the day program and I have clinicals on Mondays, class on Tuesday and Thursday and also sim lab on Thursdays after class. It will change each semester. Like next semester I'll have clinicals on Mondays and Tuesdays, class on Wednesdays and Thursdays. How is it? It's a lot of work. I mean A LOT! Lots of reading and studying mostly. But I do like it so far. I just wish there more hours in the day! Because I just don't have enough time, especially with a husband and 2 small children.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Oh okay! i do have one more question. What time are your clinicals? do they start at 630am? Im glad you like it, and i cant even imagine the amount of work it is! but good luck, and thank you!
I am a nervous wreck! I am applying for Chester County Fall 2009 and they only take 64 people! I took the NET twice and got a 81 composite the first time and a 94 composite the second time! I just read and re-did the practice tests in the NET study guide a thousand times. The math section is exactly like the book. My advice for the reading portion is to read the question and then read the paragraph.
Even with a 94 composite, I am not getting my hopes up because I know that DCCC is very competitive!
When you get in there, remember to take a deep breath and keep track of your time!

TiffTiff456,
Wow! Those are such good scores. That's great. :yeah:I hear a few people got a 92 composite that applied to the 2008 program and they got in the night program, so I'm sure you'll get in. Are you applying to the day or night program at Chester County? GOOD LUCK!!
Besides the NET study guide did you use anything else to help boost your reading comprehension scores? Like did you read other articles to brush up on comprehension/speed or did you have other practice NET test?

Thanks! and No, I didn't use anything else but the NET study guide. Just read the question first and you can usually just skim through the paragraph to find the answer. The first time I took the test I got a 67 on the Reading and I was crushed! The second time I took it I got an 88 by following the advice in the book.

Hi,
Do you mind me asking what you got on the NET to get into the program? Did it really take them until January to decide if you got in? I am applying to the Chester County program..
Thanks
I went to an info session and Eli Johnson said that you can take it at another school and transfer the score in, but it will count as one of the times you take it, so if you took the NET test twice, it will count as the third time for DCCC.
Also, my sister-in-law is a nurse at Jefferson and she said she thinks that if you go to Jefferson Nursing School and work in one of their hospitals when you graduate, they will help you pay back. But that is still a huge chunk of change! and there is more to the application process than just the NET exam.
Good luck with your test if you take it again!

2bNurseLove429,
I'm just curious. How have you been studying for the reading comprehension portion of the test? Do you just looking over the practice questions you have or are you simply reading articles to help increase your reading and speed? I've been studying mainly just the reading, and besides working on reading faster by doing the "eye span read" versus "reading word for word", I still feel like it's just not coming together.
I'm trying to study 2 hours a day (mainly at night) but find that there isn't a lot of materials to study from. For instance, read the whole ERI study book guide and when I go back now to re-take the practice test, I already know the answers, so don't know if studying off the guide will benefit me anymore.
