Hi!
I was just wondering of all the people who got into the program this year, what were your NET scores? Did anyone get in with an 85 composite score or lower?? If so, WHAT WAS YOUR READING AND MATH SCORES? I just took my NET yesterday for the third time and got an 85 composite. Math was a 96 and reading was a 73. I know it could all be different this year, but i was just wondering because i really want to get into the 2009 program!! Anyone and everyone, PLEASE let me know!!!!
Thanks:bow:
i need 2 go 2 the college 2 schedule. sorry 1 hand typing. i have a nursing baby. hoping won't take 2 long 2 schedule and brushing up on my math/reading. grad high school in 1995 and have a bs in psych fr 1999, but have had kids since. how's the math part? can you also comment on my new here post? you are the best! thx so much
I was thinking of marking perfer evening, but will take day which will make my chances better, but I don't know if I can really do day. And during the orientation Eli was like, don't put prefer evening but will take day because your scores may qualify you for the day program but not the evening program. But I might just do that anyways. Who knows.Yeah, the test is so stressful. I find the reading portion the worse, cause I'm good at math and average in reading, but apparently my reading score proved otherwise.
So when you dropped your your petition, is that when they told you that they had to eliminate your 3rd NET scores? That totally sucks. I would be so upset knowing you passed the reading (as hard as it is) and now you have to retake it. Did you improve your reading scores by a lot from your 2nd NET test? I'm trying to find ways to improve my 1st NET reading scores by about 25 points.
Sure, let me see what I have. I'm at work now so I don't have any NET study materials, etc on me. I'll respond back when look through them.
Hey, i know, but i just didnt want them to not consider me if i DO qualify for the day, but not the evening and i just have evening on the petition, know what i mean? idk! but, im good at math too, and was always good at english, but this test is so much based on critical thinking skills, which i really had to brush up on mine!
~ i believe the first test i took i got a 77 composite. i got a 98 in math and a horrible 55 in reading!!
When i took the second test, i got another 98 in math, and a 67 in reading. I believe the composite was an 82. I was so mad that time because i missed it by 3 points!
Then the third time, i got a 96 in math, and a 73 in reading, 85 composite..........I went to turn in all my documentation and everything was fine. Then about a week later, Eli calls me and says They have to erase the score and i must retake it! URRGG!
So yea, now i just need to restudy everything (bc i obviously havent been studying the past month or so). Im trying to look at this positivly, and hopefully since i did keep getting better, i wont get worse this time!
~So yes, i did dramatically improve between the first and second times, by 12 points in reading. But i think thats because the first time around i didnt take it as serious as i should have (didnt think it was going to be so hard!) and i didnt really study, and afterwards i buckled down and really studied harder.
~anyways, Im going to take it again towards the end of October as well, did you get the additional practice tests on eriworld for $15? Let me know if you ever need help studying!!

Oh, congrats on your bs in psychology! (I was always interested in psychology too!) and congrats on your baby, how old is he/she? Mine is 17 months and im still nursing him to sleep just at night. Im wondering when i should stop! But anyways, for me, the math was pretty easy. Its basically just addition, subtration, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and a little bit of algebra. (So basic math with some algebra, like 4 questions worth) So i didnt really have to study hard for the math. But the reading, it took me at least 6 weeks to brush up on my critical thinking skills. (do you have the eriworld study guide?)
I'm new here. When's the next NET test at DCCC? Where's the best place to get a book?
Well, like ley said, in order to take the NET, you have to schedule IN PERSON at the college main campus. Just go to admissions, and they will tell you what to do (they give you a slip then you go pay $40 at the cashier and take it back to admissions and they schedule your test date.) It takes like 10 minutes, if there is no line.
~As for the study guide, i bought mine off the eriworld.com website. i think i was $30 but i could be wrong....... thats the best study guide to use, i think.
I did speak to Eli, the only thing I can do is wait 6 weeks. I don't think the waitlist is worth it though, all the applicants who applied by the deadline and didn't get a seat are on the waitlist as well.I think I'm gonna apply to DCIU in Folcroft for LPN, its 12 months long, so hopefully I begin to apply to DCCC next year for the RN program. Eli said I would still need the NET, but I would start as a 2nd year RN student, so in the end it would be like getting in now.
SO now, I need to study for the TEAS!!! Luck for me DCIU doesn't use the science scores. I need 80 reading, 50 math, 50 english. I went over study guide and the reading looks a lot eaiser. The English was easy, but the math was more complicated! They have metric systems, formulas for cylinder, circle, rectangle and most of the problems are set up as word problems. On the website it says they admit 80 students but when I talked to the director she said 50.
Also, DCCC does not get informed if you took the NET at another location, they only keep track of you at their school, and if took the NET somewhere else I could use that score, unless I took the NET at DCCC and the dates were not 6 weeks apart. Go Figure. BUT hey go take the NET at other schools to practice!
Oh my gosh, i must have read over this comment, But YAY! im so happy that everythin got worked out for you!!! Thats so good that you could come in the program as a second year student, you must be very relieved!! Im very happy for you! And thats a great idea, i think, to go practice at other schools. How did you find out that DCCC only keeps track of the scores there??? Eli?

thx. baby is nearly 14 mos. i nursed my now 7yo til 13 mos and my now 5 yo til 19 mos.
is eriworld the 1 fr college? not sure if i shld just go to bookstore + buy now. i'm interested in studying w/ you any time
oh i c. Did you have to ween your 19 month old off yourself, or did he/she just lose interest?? my mother said that all hers just lost interest themselves, but it's lookin like he's still totally interested in nursing to get to sleep! It seems like it would be hard to ween them yourself, just because i would feel really bad if he wanted to nurse, and i couldnt let him because i was trying to get him to stop. idk!
~Im not sure if it's in the bookstore. I think ley might have said it was, for 28$, as much as it is on the website. But you should stop by there and see when you go to schedule your test. Yes, we can help each other study, it would be easier i think if you did have the eriworld study guide, that way we would know we were talking about the same things.
Yea I asked! I said I was thinking of applying at other schools that use the NET, If I take it at another school 3 times is DCCC able to see that. He said the schools are the only ones that keep track not the test. I'm about to go pay $60 for the TEAS at folcroft. I need 80 reading 50 math and 50 english. If I get those scores I am accepted for fall 09. I'm thankful they don't count the science!
My 19 month old needed to be weaned on her own and YES, she did end up crying it out. She nursed to sleep, as did her sister. It was horrible and I made up my mind to start sleep training earlier with my next child. I don't know if it's my decision not to let him nurse to sleep, or just that he's a different baby, but he falls asleep on his own.
From a pure health aspect, I think the Academy of Pediatricians was recommending nursing until age 2 if at all possible. That doesn't mean all day; morning, and or night, would be okay too.
I'm learning to be a Nursing Counselor right now, so I have lots of information in my head about breastfeeding. When I needed to learn 7 years ago, there were very few people I could talk to for help. I want to be there for any of my friends, if they ever need help.

On to other things...I'm not sure about the college offering the eriworld studyguide, or not. I wanted to go and buy one today, but the baby is still sick. I'll have to wait until Monday.
Did you have to apply to the college first, in order to register? Or, could you just walk in from off of the street and ask to register?
I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I hope you are staying dry in this yucky day.
Yes, im staying dry! I actually just woke from taking a nap with my son! But i think that is so cool that your training to be a nursing counselor. I really do admire that. there are a lot of mothers, maybe more young moms, that maybe do not breastfeed because they have no support from their family or anyone else. So i think that is great! Me, being a young mom, was very lucky to have the support of both my mother and mother in law.
~I don't think you have to register at the college to take the NET there. But I'm not positive. i am registered, because i am taking classes there right now, so Im not exactly sure. i just called admissions to see, but they close early on Fridays. Heres their number, you could call b4 you go on monday, just to make sure.
(610)-359-5050 (Admissions office) They would know! Your not asking too many questions! I think it's nice to communicate with other people going through the same things!!
~Oh and i'm sorry your baby is sick =o[ I hope baby gets better soon...

That's true. I was thinking of doing the same thing and putting prefer nights, but will take day. I'll have a few months to decide if I want to switch from full-time to part-time since it would be a great opportunity to advance my career. I guess I'll just have to think about it. The only bad thing is that I haven't taken Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, English Comp. II (didn't transfer from my other college), and Abnormal Psych. Are you done your pre-req's?
Wow, you're scores did improve a lot since the first time. I think I was in the same situation as you. I didn't take the first test as serious as I should and focused on the math more than the reading.. big mistake. By taking the test again, you could probably boost your composite even higher. I read in some other post that someone who got in the day program, mentioned that she got an 82 composite and a few of her classmates had scores in the lower 80s.
I heard that the practice on ERI was very helpful as it gives you a good practice run. I was planning on getting it a week before I take the test. You have 7 days to take it and can take it as much as you like within the 7 day period, but the only difference is that I they only give you 1 reading passage versus 3 passages. Have you ever purchased in before?
I looked at my stuff and it doesn't seem like I have any practice test except from some of the NET books I have. I did find this good reading comprehension practice questions website/pdf file:
http://images.learnatest.com/SearchP...ng_Comp_3e.pdf
And here's a good practice test for the math portion:
http://www.midland.edu/~hsd/pdf/8-NET_Test.pdf
I'll see if I can find anything else..

The geocites are pretty much just regular reading tests. the other two websites she gave are much more like the real NET test. the hfcclab site is very good at helping with the different kinds of questions like inference, predicting outcomes, main idea. If you actually do the excersices that they give you, it will help a lot. you really should get the eriworld study guide, if you havent already. The people who wrote that study guide wrote the NET test. So they know what theyre talking about! plus, it gives you practice tests at the end of the book that were very helpful to me. They are MUCH like the NET.
~you cannot see the questions or the reading passages b4 the timer starts. once you click start, your 30 minutes start and then you read the passages and answer a couple questons about each one. then on to the next passage. you can navigate between pages, but i wouldnt recommend it unless you really have to, because i think you would run out of time that way. you have less than a minute to answer each question, and that doesnt include the time you have to take to read the passages. And you can see the text above the questions, for most of them anyway. i think i may have switched back to the previous page maybe once or twice just to read the text again.
~When are you going to take it?? Hope your studying goes good!
