Anyone who got into DCCC 2008 program, HELP!

Published

Hi!

I was just wondering of all the people who got into the program this year, what were your NET scores? Did anyone get in with an 85 composite score or lower?? If so, WHAT WAS YOUR READING AND MATH SCORES? I just took my NET yesterday for the third time and got an 85 composite. Math was a 96 and reading was a 73. I know it could all be different this year, but i was just wondering because i really want to get into the 2009 program!! Anyone and everyone, PLEASE let me know!!!!

Thanks:bow:

Great job! I'm scheduled on 10/29. I hope I do well. How did you do on the practice tests? What really is the best way to improve your reading? I'd love to talk to you on the phone. What's the best way for me to reach you? Please email me your email addy and I'll email you back.

okay, check your private messages, i sent you one b4, hopefully you got it!

Well guys, I took the NET again today and passed! I am a little disappointed, though, because my composite score was lower than it was last time, which is the one they erased.

Last time it was an 85, this time I got an 83 composite. 73 in reading and 93 in math.

~When I went to turn it in to Eli, he assured me that it was a good score, and that its very hard for people to even pass the reading, so I should be thankful. That made me feel a little better. (Eli is a very nice guy, by the way!)

~So, now its just the anticipation of if Im in or not.......hopefully an 83 composite is good enough:confused:

I've heard people saw they've scored in the lower 80s, as well as others in their class and they made it into the day program. It's pretty nerve-wreaking for you now, huh, to have to wait? But congrats on getting a composite of 83!

I'm taking the test on Wed. and I'm getting pretty nervous. Still a little iffy on the topics and timing is somewhat of an issue still. Last time I only got to like 1-2 questions on the ear.

In your opinion, was the anatomy of the ear passage harder than the microorganism one? I zoomed through the day/night people one. I struggled with the micro one and didn't even go beyond 1-2 questions on the ear.

Any advice on how to attack the micro and ear passage?

I've been reading the questions (not answers), then skimming the passage for key words? Is that what you did? Cause when I do that, I think I suffer on inference and predicting outcome questions.

Thanks! Yep, my fingers are crossed! Are you applying for 2009?

~Well, Thats the same one I had, and that ear one was hard as hell at first!! But the second time I took that one, it was better. Surprisingly, I had about 4 minutes left when I finished, so I went back and changed like 2 (I think they were both inference ones, and I scored high there) But I did notice that you really have to use a lot of plain ol' common sense too. Like, I found myself thinking "well, this answer is obvious" for a lot of the inference ones, and thinking it was wrong because it was just a simple answer. Just make sure the answer you pick ANSWERS THE QUESTION ASKED. It HAS to answer the question. (If you have to go above and beyond and really think about the answer to try to MAKE it answer the question, its probably wrong). Some of the answers look like really educated answers, but the right answer is just from using common sense INSTEAD of OVERthinking about it (because the first time I took that test, about the micro and ear, i was thinking too hard about the answers and trying to MAKE some of the attractive ones work, know what i mean???) I would say just study, and when you get to the reading part, think about it, but dont over think it. Does that make sense??! Because some of the answers are simple ones. Oh, and I did just skim the question or even the first couple words of the question first b4 I read the paragraph. Just to get an idea of what question type it was; inference, main idea, or predicting outcomes.

~Gosh, I really hope this HELPS you and not visa versa! But that is just the advice i would have gave myself the FIRST time I took the test!!

~~I am wishing you the BEST of luck on wednesday!

thanks ley!

~hey, anyone need any more practice for the net?? i know i could use some more!

go to this site, if you havent already.....

~they really need to have more practice for this dang ol' test, ya know?!:lol2:

hey 2bnurselove419,

thanks for the advice! i'm one of those people that tend to over-think things, especially on an exam. i'm one of those people that second guess themselves after picking an answer. that's what i'm afraid of when i take the net. so you're advice was helpful, now if only i can follow it to a "t" tomorrow.

i just tried out this practice test you posted and i got to say that i didn't do so good on it. it seem a lot harder than the other practice test that i've tried. i didn't think the real net exam was this hard. did you have trouble with the questions on this practice test? with the other ones, i was able to score pretty high with very little time left over, but with this one, i ended up going over by a lot and still only get about 50% of the questions right.

i don't remember if the actually net test was this hard, cause if it is i'm starting a bit worried. :o

hey! don't be worried! that test might have been a lil harder than the net. i think i got about 5 or 6 wrong or something for each one. im not positive.

~i remembered another thing for the test tomorrow. i dont know if you have noticed during other practice tests, but sometimes when they ask you an inference question, like which statement is true?, they will make all the answers look like true statements, but 3 of them are really false info. they reword some of the words, maybe even just one word, in the answer so its not identical to the one in the paragraph. therefore, its false, so wrong. like for example, when i was reading the really long passage about the ear and came to a question (im not sure if it was the which statement is tru? one or whats the difference between the middle and inner ear?) all the answers look like they are true statements, then i looked a lil harder and reread through the paragraph, and only one was a true statement, ya know.

~this might be obvious to some people, but whenever i came to a which statement is true question, i never really thought that only one is true and the other were false. i just kinda thought they were all true but only one was right!!! idk!

~hope your not confused!!!!

Hey! Did you ever get your private messages from me?? Just wondering because I havent heard from you. But I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK on your test tomorrow!!! Ill send up a prayer 4 you:luvnltr: And one for you too LEY!! I hope you both do GGRREEAAT tomorrow!

Thanks, 2bNurseLove419!!

I think you gave some REALLY good advice. I'm going to have to keep an eye out... but I really didn't know that they make 3 false statements, and only 1 true one. When I took the test, I always thought they were all true too, but only 1 was MORE right than the others.

Thanks for the assurance about the practice test. I thought I was going nuts. I'm already scared of opening the envelope after the test to see how I did cause when I took the test the first time, I was in a daze while driving home after I saw my score. :o Hopefully, tomorrow will be different..

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I don't know if I could have prepared more for it without your help.

:rcgtku: You're :nmbrn:!

Few more hours before the test, and I'm getting nervous. I tried the online practice from ERI and didn't do so well on it. To think I was doing good on the paper practice exams and not the practice exam from the people who wrote the test. Oh boy.. it's going to be a tough day..

I hope I get the Microorganism, Day/Night People and ear questions. I'm pretty sure I will cause it seems like everyone who took the test again got the same test. I hope so. :T

Well, everyone, I took the test today. I didn't sleep at all last night. I want to go to bed now, but I really want to watch the Phillies too.

So, I was afraid to open my results until I got to the car.

I got a 98 on math and an 85 on reading. That's a composite of 92. I think that's good. I was surprised because I graduated college in 1999 and have not done much, but be a mommy since then.

Thank you so much for all of your help. I hope we can meet next year. Are you doing day or night?

Off to help the kiddos with homework.

GREAT JOB!!!! Congratulations! :anpom:

Thank you so much for everything. I went in today to turn in my petition to Eli today. He's very nice. He checked everything out for me, but didn't like my child abuse check, so he sent me upstairs to the library to request a copy from the state. Mine came from a company that Girl Scouts uses. So, I did that, dragging the two kids I had with me. The only problem was that the stroller didn't fit through the turnstyle and the baby wanted to nurse the whole time. So, he screamed for 10 minutes in the library. I was mortified and wanted to disappear.

I hope you are all well and enjoyed the Phillies win last night!

What are you all up to, until we hear the results of all our hard work?

I don't know about anybody else but I'm officially nervous now knowing that we have to wait until Jan (maybe?) to hear something!
