I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.
I applied for the lvn-RN upgrade at mjc. It seems like it is taking forever for the 23rd to get here!!!!! Has anyone heard if anyone dropped or failed last semester so there will be room for LVN upgrades? I had applied for the RN program 4 times and couldnt get in. SO i decised to apply for the LVN program at Delta and got in furst try. Now I just want to finish my RN asap cause LVN positions do not pay half as well. Hope you all get in soon. I know how frustrating it is to apply over and over again.
I just spoke to someone in the allied health office and I was told that for Fall 2010 they are only taking 2 students for the LVN-ADN upgrade. She said that its really up and down, because Spring 2010 they had 11 students for the LVN-ADN upgrade.
1DAYRNIHOPE,
Yay!!!!!!!!Congrats, that is so awesome!!:) I found out also that one of my good friends got in for Spring as well!! It makes me not as scared knowing that I will already have a couple of friends with me!!!! Thanks everyone!! Congrats katie_kins007!!! we will see ya at orientation:)
Hi Kgag
Yes! I know I will be applying even though I really feel like I am sort cutting myself short with all the hard work I have put into going RN. However, since the age of 40 is fastly approaching I really don't have time to waste. Sooo I will be apply RT @ MJC as well as any Surg Tech, LVN, RN, Rad tech or Ultra Sound, programs I can get my hands on within a 50-60 mile radius of Stockton! I am hoping for Delta in the spring at this point and then will really take what I can get after that. How about you? If you got time, perhaps get your cna and work until you can into a program, or continue with your studies until you can qualify for a CSU. I hear CSU turlock and CSU East Bay have some really good programs. Congrats again to all those who got in! Please give us details and pointers when you can!
