Anyone else wearing old scrubs whilst shopping/running errands?

So lately I have been wearing sets of scrubs I no longer wear on the floor, while running errands, especially when shopping.

I have gained quite a few pounds since I've started working as a nurse ? so nothing fits me anymore LOL. I've bought a few new clothes for special occasions , but my old scrubs still fit me , so I use them when running errands.

I often run into co-workers: oh , are you going to work,?? (They think I PRN elsewhere). I most often say yes LOL. It's embarrassing. But I feel so so comfy in my scrubs!

Please tell me I not alone! ?

I've never minded going to the store after if I had a fairly clean day... not around contagious diseases or enemas or frequent code browns. There have been news stories about nurses getting beat up for wearing scrubs in pulic lately though. I wouldn't chance it now. I keep a comfy outfit in my trunk in case going to the store after work strikes  my fancy now.

I garden and clean the house in scrubs because they are so convenient for that. The pockets are so handy and the dirt comes right out in the wash.

I wear an old scrub top when I dye my hair. It's miraculously not stained.

I don't wear scrubs to run errands though, unless I absolutely must pick something up on the way to work.

I agree with a few posters above that I would not wear any scrubs out in public for fear of being seen as dirty even if they are a fresh clean pair. Only exception I make usually is filling my gas on the way home from work because I am terrible at fillingy tank when I should have! ?

I am with you. I wear my old green surgical scrubs out for errands. Everyone cuts a wide path around me and they pull their masks up over their noses, as well.

They are comfy.

I don't see why anyone should be dressed up to run errands. To each their own, I suppose.

I get dressed up for occasions, interviews and the dressage ring; otherwise whatever is clean and comfy.

Sometimes I go to the store after work to avoid extra trip next day, and have a 3 year old I do not want to drag to the store.

But coming from home, I would not wear scrubs to run errands. I do think it's okay, though. Better scrubs than some torn up butt showing jeans one might see. :))

Since I work 4 days a week and the occasional weekend on call/rounding for an 11 day work week, I wear my hospital green scrubs everywhere. I'm also currently in the process of moving, so I have packed up all my nice clothes since I'm wearing scrubs 90% of the time anyways. The other 5% is PJs and the other 5% is leggings with a t-shirt.

My green scrubs are so soft and comfy and I've actually noticed that one of my tops has a hole in it so it makes me a little sad (I really need to patch it up).

Do I care what people think?

Not at all. To be honest, if that means they get out of my way, I'm cool with that cause usually I'm in a rush to get in and out anyways. ?

I wear old scrubs for cleaning and errands around the house as well. When going out I will only wear the bottoms with a tshirt. I don't think it's a good idea to wear full scrubs outside. I've see people in full scrubs at grocery store and even I cringe and hope they are on the way to work. My previous job we wore a large thick lab coat so I felt pretty safe I wasn't carrying anything contagious but still felt weird in public. Not everyone feels the same way. I don't think it should be acceptable to wear hospital scrubs outside. I try to wear a jacket if I'm stopping by somewhere to protect my patients. Sometimes you don't know what kind of patients you'll be taking care of and what kind of pathogen you're bringing to them.

Old scrubs are great for washing the car or painting the garage.

Don't you deserve better than that for running errands?

When my sister gained weight working night shift, she went out to the Goodwill in the wealthiest part of town and put together a few stylish outfits in her new size for very little money.

Who cares what  they wear  while running errands? Saw plenty of people in  pajamas before we all were wearing masks. :/

I don’t wear scrubs in the stores anymore, even if I’m on my way to work. Even though I know that I’m wearing clean scrubs, I didn’t want to put myself in any situation where someone might just to conclusions.

And sometime I want to rip my eyes out when I see what people wear in public.

Please life is too short.  If you want to wear a tiara while shopping please do.  Whatever works for you is great don't let the comments of others change what you do.
