hello!
is anyone apply to the simmons dix scholar 2-yr BSN program for fall 2010?
just wanted to find anyone who wants to share stories/info about the application process.
thanks!
honeymist,
I am also starting in July!!!! I am very excited and can't wait for orientation in June. I have not heard anything about having to take a CPR class, but I can take it at work (I work in the ER). Do we have to and if so, when by? Private message me if you would like. I'd love to get to know any of our classmates ahead of time:)

kerri,
i submitted my fafsa right after we all got our acceptance letters, and about a month after i got my financial aid package based on my fafsa alone. i just recently sent in my w2s and tax return, but i got the letter from financial aid before that. i did get a grant through simmons to help as part of my package, so i guess it doesn't matter that its a second bachelors. although i didn't apply for financial aid for my first bachelors, but i doubt that would make a difference. if you still haven't heard from financial aid at all, i might call or email them. i emailed them through my simmons account and they got back to me quickly (big difference from admissions!). hope that helps! can't wait for orientation so i can meet all of my fellow classmates!
Yes you definitely can get financial aid. I got some grant/scholarship, and some federal loans. I just did my private loan this weekend (I went w/ Discover, the rate was OK - about 9%, not great but I hear the going rate for private loans is 12% these days so I guess that's better that that).
Call the financial aid office, they're really nice and very helpful.
Well somehow I missed this, but since I retook organic chemistry (in 2005) that disqualifies me for being considered for the 18 mo program and they automatically review my application for the 2 year program ..... which means, automatic waitlist! ugh ...I feel like I didn't even have a shot of getting in because I was shooting for the 18 month program. I applied in January and I heard that the 2 year program was already filled at that point for Fall 2010. boo
oh and for the record, i found out all this by calling ... i still haven't received a letter but my admission counselor told me I was on the waitlist and where on the waitlist I was... if you haven't received anything in the mail you might be able to get some info by calling
When had you taken it originally? I took it in college but had to retake it because the 10 years was up. Hopefully that doesn't count. I just applied about a month ago. I had heard the fall was full but there were a couple spots left in the 18 month so I applied for that on a whim. I hate to call and be annoying so I was hoping someone else had also recently applied :) I was told they don't review applications as they come in, they do them in batches and the next batch was sometime this month. They also said they take a lot of people off the waitlist due to people who they conditionally accepted not passing pre-req's, changing their minds etc so depending on where you are on the waitlist you could still have a good shot for the fall. Good luck!!
i'm waiting to hear about the bsn 18 month program. i have been calling and stopping by admissions and they keep telling me i'll hear "in about 2 weeks". I was last told this tuesday. They also told me to wait 2 weeks three weeks ago. soooo I guess we'll just have to wait and see! It's killing me though, i'm so anxious about it!
Anyone apply for the BSN in the past couple months who is still waiting to hear? I heard a few weeks ago that applications were being reviewed "soon" but haven't heard anything since. Do they ask everyone for interviews?
Congratulations!!! Did you call today? Did they call you for a phone interview or did you call them? How soon after you sent your application in did you have the interview? Sorry for so many questions, it's getting close to the start of the 18 month and I am getting nervous. Congrats again, very exciting!

That's weird, if they are looking for your financial aid docs I think you must've gotten in. Are you positive you were not accepted? Why would they want that stuff if they weren't accepting you?? They're really nice there, if you call I bet they'll help you out!
