hello!
is anyone apply to the simmons dix scholar 2-yr BSN program for fall 2010?
just wanted to find anyone who wants to share stories/info about the application process.
thanks!
Hi allaboutnursing77,
I was accepted to Simmons direct-entry program, beginning in July. I'd love to hear your thoughts about your experience - I've had trouble finding info from current students/recent grads.
I'm particularly interested in your clinical experiences. I've heard from some students in Boston-area programs that the clinical placements can vary tremendously in quality - have you or your fellow students found that to be the case at Simmons? Do you mind sharing some of your clinical sites, and your impressions?
Have you begun the "internship" portion of the program? Can you explain a little bit about how that works? How much input did students have in selecting the internship sites?
I'm trying to decide between Simmons and MGH, so any thoughts or comments you have would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
I applied in the beginning of January, but they requested some more info from me- so my application wasn't really complete until mid-March. I guess they haven't done a second round of reviews yet? It seems like it's getting so late....but it's comforting to know there are still spots available.
Was that an open house for accepted students? Will you be attending in July?
No the open house was just a general open house for people interested in the Dix programs. I was originally going to apply for the fall but when I heard there were spots for July I applied for that one. I just sent my application in about 3 weeks and have not heard yet, but was told applications were being reviewed soon. So fingers crossed! Yours will probably be done then it sounds like if you haven't heard anything. Good luck!!

Hi, I've heard nothing but great things about Simmons. Their staff is so helpful and relates to you on a personal level which I like. You're not just another application. I actually applied to Simmon's but withdrew my app. this past Friday as I can't afford the program not to mention I'd have to take biochem before the start of the program at $4K no financial aid. I love the school and will consider going there for Grad school. I can't say I've heard as much about MCPHS.
Good luck to you guys and Congratulations!!!!!
