hello!

is anyone apply to the simmons dix scholar 2-yr BSN program for fall 2010?

just wanted to find anyone who wants to share stories/info about the application process.

thanks!

I did call today. When i turned in my transcripts I asked about the interviews and the girl in the front said they usually recommend a phone interview before an in person. I had to sign up and schedule a phone interview which was a very basic casual conversation really about my grades and whatnot. It didn't seem required. The interview was a few days after I handed everything in, but again i had to volunteer myself for it. I don't think they'd pursue it otherwise so if you didn't do one I don't think it will make or break you.

and I totally understand the nerves! Everyday at 3 I'd check the mail and for the rest of the night would have my stomach tied up in knots. I'd recommend calling and if at least to know your application is complete and is being reviewed. I'm grateful I did as there was a slight mixup with my app. They were extremely nice about it though. good luck!

Thanks so much, I will call on Monday and see if I can find anything out. Are you definitely going or did you apply other places? Have you heard anything from them regarding finanacial aid? Congratulations again, fingers crossed we'll be classmates!

Hi, I applied ton the Dix 18 month program on April 1 and hears just last week. It has been a hard decision. There are less expensive programs out there. It is good to read so many positive reviews of the program. What did the girl who was deciding between curry and simmons decide? I have not received my financial aid package yet. That will be the deciding fActor. I would love to hear more from folks in the l18 month program who have children and how easy it was to juggle. I did notice that the classes were all over the place.. Does that get better or worse? Is it a matter of getting registered early?

I am definitely going to go to Simmons. I haven't heard from financial aid but I'm going to make my deposit on monday for the program. They will probably contact me soon after. good luck! hope it works out!

sveiz - I unfortunately don't know much information to help but i do know a lot of moms find the 2 year program helpful. I think it's more spread out and only part time. Not sure if that's any help but just a thought

Sveiz - Congratulations! Did you receive a letter in the mail or did you call? I think unless you go to Umass or another state school, and I don't think there are many with the accelerated program, the cost difference is minimal. Simmons has a great reputation and I think their program is highly recognized. It's a hard decision regardless, it's a lot of time and money and what's best for everyone in the end is different. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Allie, I got a letter from Simmons letting me know. If you haven't heard I would call. The undergrad office is very helpful

Does anyone know the dates of the orientation?

Excellent, thanks so much to both of you for answering my (annoying) questions. Congrats again!

does anyone know any specifics regarding the waitlist for the 2 year program? approximately how many people are on it? and how big of a class it currently is?

I don't know how big the class is but they will tell you what number you are on the waitlist. As of the middle of March there were 9 people on it. They pull more people than other schools because they generally fill the class well beforehand with people who apply the year before and say they are going to take all their pre-reqs there and either don't do well and their spot opens up or people who change their minds etc.

I was the one who was also looking at Curry but really never considered it as much as I was considering Simmons, and I did decide to go to Simmons. Our orientation is June 21. You should've gotten your financial aid package already...I think.

Question for anyone who's already been accepted and is going: What shoes are you buying? In that email we got it said white professional shoes, white sneakers are fine too. I don't know what to buy! Also - we have to have our stethoscope ordered before orientation, so I think I'm going to buy mine online....it has to be the Littman Classic S.E. I found it in a pink/purple color, do you think that's OK?

So excited/nervous!!!!

Honeymist- I saw that you went with Discover for private loans. Have you checked out Wells Fargo medcap loan?? That's who I went with and the interest rate is cheaper. No fees at all.

Darn it! That is way cheaper - I think I still can cancel discover and go with that one instead though. What was your rate, if you don't mind me asking?
