If anyone hasn't heard, orientation is Monday, June 21st from 12:30-5 and we can purchase scrubs at 5 afterwards. Can't wait!!! I haven't heard anything about Financial Aid, but I did just submit our W2's and tax returns. Can we still get aid even though it is our 2nd Bachelor's??

honeymist, I am also starting in July!!!! I am very excited and can't wait for orientation in June. I have not heard anything about having to take a CPR class, but I can take it at work (I work in the ER). Do we have to and if so, when by? Private message me if you would like. I'd love to get to know any of our classmates ahead of time:) Kerri

Simmons or Johns Hopkins?
Lucy121, HI! I was accepted to the Dix Scholars 18 month BSN program beginning in July. Is that the same program you were accepted to? I am attending Simmons and am very excited. Will you be going there as well?

anyone applying to the simmons dix scholars program?
Julia and bri, I am definitely going to Simmons beginning in July! I got my trasnfer credit eval via email last week and all looks good. I just have to send my transcripts from this and last semesters to confirm, but I think they will be fine since I took them at the same school and have already forwarded my syllabi for all classes. I am so excited!!!! I spoke with the registrar's office and the girl said that we will be taking NU 225 and NU 292 over the summer. NU 225 has a 4 hr lab twice/week and a 3 hour lecture once per week, NU 292 has a 4 hr weekly lab and 3 hr lecture. You can see all of this on the AARC. Will you all be definitely going to Simmons? NeNe, Yes, I did have to fill out some forms prior to my acceptance. I am not sure if that is normal for all applicants or what, I'm sorry, but best of luck to you!! Kerri

anyone applying to the simmons dix scholars program?
Jmbia, I just got accepted to the 18 month program as well!!!!! I received my acceptance letter yesterday and could not be more excited!!!! Did your letter also state something about a May start date as well as a July start date? I have completed all prerequisites, so I am not sure what that meant. I will call them on Monday, but just wanted to see if anyone else's letter read the same thing. Looks like we will be classmates! Message me and we can chat...yay! Congrats to you! Kerri

anyone applying to the simmons dix scholars program?
Jan 10th was the priority review for a July start. I spoke with my admissions couselor 2 weeks ago and she also confirmed there are no spots left for the 2 year program as that program is designed for current Simmons students. I am not a current Simmons student and also hold a BS, so she said that coupled with my pre-requisite GPA and resume, I am a strong candidate for that program (I hope!). She stated that I should hear back by the middle of February. You can still apply, but it will be for rolling admissions. Best of luck!!

anyone applying to the simmons dix scholars program?
Thank you allaboutnursing77, your info is much appreciated! I applied to Regis' Direct Entry program, but only because I have the choice of leaving after completing my BSN. Simmons is my first choice. I love how they offer the 2 year program for us working mothers. I only work overnights on the weekends, but having 3 children limits my time commitment, but I am ambitious and know I can do it:) My husband is very supportive as is his company, so there is a lot of flexibility there, thankfully. The 2-year program is a little less intense than the 18 month program. They also have a 3 year, but that's too long a program for me. The 2 and 3 year programs are also for people who do not have a prior bachelor's. In my case, it's to spread the course load out. Good luck everyone!

anyone applying to the simmons dix scholars program?
I applied to the 2-year program beginning Fall 2010. I have contacted the admissions department a few times and they have confirmed that they will not be reviewing the applicants for the 2-year program who would like a Fall start, until after the priority deadline of january 10th. It should then take 2-3 business weeks to recieve decision letters. The clinicals do begin the first semester and they are 6-8 hours in length. I am not sure of the ratio for online classes vs campus classes. I have a prior BS in Psychology; however, I am the mother of 3 and work 20 hours/week at a hospital, so the 2-year program would work better for me. Has anyone heard the acceptance rate? How many spots are there for this program? Any more info or questions, please let me know!! Thanks and good luck to you all!

How Competitive are the Accelerated BSN Programs
Akercat, Thank you for your reassuring information. I feel I am a string candidate as did the Regis Graduate Admissions Director for the Direct-Entry MSN program. I applied there as well, so I believe I should know by the end of January from both schools. I went to Bridgewater State College and have a BS in Psych. I also started my Masters in Education in Special Education there and earned A's in all 3 of the classes I took. I am hoping they don't look at this and think I can't make up my mind, but instead see that I have the desire to help others. My essay was strong as well, I believe. Although I am not involved in patient care, I am around everything from flu symptoms to traumas every night I work. Working in the ER at a Trauma 1 certified hospital is what made me realize nursing was the career for me. It is an intriguing and exciting environment. I guess we'll see! Thank you for the good luck wishes, I will keep you posted as to what the schools' decisions were. Are you a nurse now or in a program to become one? What was your undergrad major/GPA (if you don't mind me asking) and where do you go now?? Thanks again:) Kerri

How Competitive are the Accelerated BSN Programs
Hi, I know this post is a year and a half old, but I have a couple of questions. I just applied to both Simmons (Dix Scholars BSN 2-year track) and Regis (Non-BS to MSN). I am interested in knowing what the ratio of applicants to accepted candidates is? I heard there were somewhere around 40 spots. Can anyone confirm this? I was told by the admissions department I should hear back in January. I am very nervous. I think I have a strong application, but you never know what they are looking for. I had a 3.24 undergrad GPA, all A's in my pre-req's, what I think of as a good essay and I work at a hospital in Admitting. I have also worked at an acute care Psychiatric hospital as a mental health associate. Does anyone think I am a strong candidate? Simmons is my first choice. Any help/suggestions/info would be much appreciated! Thank you!
