Anyone afraid of not getting in?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all i'm trying to remain optimistic but i so scared of not getting into nursing school and having to wait another long agonising year.Don't want to have to do it all over again.Aynone else feel this way?

Sure it will. I am sure your grades are good enough. Does your school have interviewing? I even feel good about that, but hey, the night before, lets see if I get any sleep. :lol2: I am going to take a CNA class, so that will give me more opportunity to work while I go through. I will probably only work on weekends, but that will give me some good experience.

The ADN program at our CC doesn't have interviews, but the BSN program at UT Health Science Center started conducting interviews.

Two of the schools I'm applying to does a strict point system. No interview or references. Which I can understand on some levels, but on others, it's a little unnerving.

ya I know what you mean I am not sure if it would help or hinder me. my school does strictly GPA nothing else no points no interviews nothing. I have seen the points thing at the larger university that takes BSN but they also require the nursing entrance exam I am kind of happy I don't need to take that. They also have a huge list for the points which I guess makes it better for the "well rounded" student.

I'm terrified I wont get in. I've already startted making "if I don't get into nursing school" plans.

Absolutely! Im applying to a few backup schools but there's only 1 that is really affordable and doesn't mean a complete life upheaval, so the pressure is on. At this point all I can really do is keep my grades up (last semester!) and hope for the best.

It is a great idea to have a back-up plan. I do have one myself. I am thinking positive though.

Of course! I think we are all terrified! At the school I'm applying to nearly 2,000 apply for 100 spots so even 4.0's get turned away! I've applied so now it's in God's hands. I just have to sit and wait.

The point system legally protects the school. The point system doesn't know if you are black or white, single or married, children or no children, so if they go by that, they don't have to worry about someone standing up and screaming that they were not considered fairly.

I am turning into a literal psych case. Only on an anonymous board like this - would I admit it. My family is sick of hearing about it. My friends don't understand why it's competitive to get into nursing school with the nursing shortage. I swear they think I'm exaggerating or something. They do try to understand.

I'm applying to two BSN programs. One takes 1/6 applicants. The other takes 1/5 applicants. I'm getting on waitlists for a couple of ADN programs too. But the wait is 3 years for the CC in my city.

Really I worry about this so much. I don't like uncertainty. It's hard to know what to do with the lease on my condo.

I work so hard to maintain my 4.0. I've made myself sick too many times from lack of sleep. I work. I have to volunteer both in healthcare and in another sort of community service volunteer work. One BSN program nearly requires its applicants to be members of their snobby sorority-like pre-nursing club which requires attendance at meetings one night EVERY week. So help me G-d I'm about to snap. I think maybe I should see a therapist. Seriously. Thank goodness for the annonymity of the internet. I wouldn't say all this in person very easily.

Today I had a flash in my mind that astonished me. I thought for a second...why don't I just switch majors to something like biochemistry and work in a lab. Chuck nursing. That terrified me because I've been 100% sure about nursing for so long. I dismissed the thought, but it just shocked me.
