Please note that the CAS modules are no longer an option. Failure to pass the challenge tests will mean that you have failed to demonstrate competence and your application can not therefore be approved.

Since when did they implement this? You mean if you fail the one day clinical assessment, there will be no more 160 hours clinical practice?

Oh my... I still have to complete two modules and the 160 clinical placement...when I submitted my enrollment forms earlier this month, CAS was still advising me to complete everything by June 30 2010, then just a day ago I came across this (finish everything by June 4, and clinical placement arrangements by April 30) in their website...

And then the:

What's gonna happen to me now? :crying2:

I wish they could have decided about all these changes before the Holidays. Now, we all got to wait for next year til they're back in office.

MEKI, when did you submit your applications and when did you receive a reply? I mailed mine last nov and I still dont have a reply from QNC.

those who wants to experience the 160 clinical placement would have to be eligible before 30/04/10 otherwise only part B one day clinical challenge test would be open but must also be passed with assessment by 04/06/10.

in my own timeline, if i fail in any of the subcategories this february it would be impossible for me to udergo the 160 clinical placement. supposing i take the module/s, i would also be time constrained.

therefore, i am taking the test (part A) and if i pass all 4, this is the only sign that means i should pursue further on the CAS route. otherwise, i will have to wait until 01/07/10 and check what alternatives are viable for me and my qualifications.

may we all have a meaningful christmas and a prosperous new year!

may God guide us on our journeys and give us the wisdom so that we can determine and accept the difference between what is attainable and what is not...and also the courage to keep us going.

Hey guys Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!!

For those who had taken the CAS Part A, how did you apply through CQU? I was emailed a application form for CAS to CQU to demonstrate competence as RN but I dont have a credit card. Is it ok to use a bank draft? QNC forwarded to me the application form, is it the only requirement? Please give me some information on how you applied and how it took for them to process and schedule for the exam. Thank you in advance!!

Sincerely,

Hello meki! that message was specifically indicated for me. Due to time constraint, the QNC stated that I can only take the Challenge tests, so if I fail one subtest in Part A, I cannot move on with the process. In the past, if u fail one subtest, u can take the education modules. Therefore, it is not an option for me to undertake the modules or the clinical placement. Sorry for making u nervous. I suggest that u must finish ur modules before April for u to catch the last scheduling of clinical placements. Remember there are still hurdles to overcome just like visa processing and blue card application that would take approximately 1 month, this is needed for clinical practice.

Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas too. I think you can, but I think it must be in AUD. If you're in Manila, you can visit ANZ bank. Try emailing CAS, although they'll be returning in January. But you could also utilize a credit card by a friend or a relative. As for the process, you will be enrolled to sit for the exam closest to the date you've paid, (every 2nd Wednesday of the month), provided it will be at least 30 days prior to the exam date.

My modules haven't even arrived. I don't even know if they've already sent them. All I got from them was that they received the payment. No advisory about if they've sent them, or any info about these dramatic changes in their CAS completion timeline. If not for this forum I wouldn't have been informed. And I haven't seen the blue card requirement in the CAS booklet they've sent. :crying2: Can anyone here guide me how to go about through this?

all pre-requisites for the 160 hour placement is at this site:

http://cas.cqu.edu.au/FCWViewer/view.do?page=9242

as for the student blue card, i have emailed cas and they told me that we can apply for it whilst where still here in the philippines. the site for the student blue card application form is at:

http://www.ccypcg.qld.gov.au/pdf/bluecard/forms/05-148-Student-Form-NOV09.pdf

now on the form it states that the organisation/education provider should fill-up PART A. i still have to email cas and ask them about the details for it. PART's C & D can be filled by a presicribed person, i also need to verify from cas if this means the notary public. the student blue card processing takes approx. 28 days.

i'll have to ask CAS on what to do, i mean if we still need to mail them the application form PART A or if IDP Australia on behalf of CAS can fill-up PART A.

i'll post the answers as soon as i have them. i'll be emailing on 04 january as we are on holiday.

happy holidays guys!

Thank u very much dreaminOz and ciao_88 for the info you have given me about the CAS Part A application.

Thanks so much!! Happy Happy New Year everyone!!!

hi,

im new to this forum. i just took the challenge a last dec and was directed to take the education modules for transition to professional practice and clinical. from the cas educaton modules sent to me, its states that :

necessity

the number of clinical hours (160) to be completed on clinical placement has been accredited with the queensland nursing council, so it is a compulsory part of the program for becoming a registered or enrolled nurse. the only exception for not completing the clinical placement is if the applicant achieved over 80% in the relevant section of the part a challenge test, where they will be required to undertake a one-day part b clinical assessment.

ihave some questions:

1. does it mean that since i failed in the clinical subpart of challengea, i will no longer be required to take the one-day partb clinical assessment? rather, i will take the 160 clinical hours of clinical placement upon passing the clinical module?

2. for the clinical pre-requisites: is the philippine red cross a recognise provider for evidence of current cpr & first aid certificate? how can we complete a medication calculation competency test? for the provide evidence of hepatitis b immunisation and titre level, is it a photocopy of our hepab immunisation certificate and titre level?

thanks a lot!

Hi! we're on the same level, has to take up TPP module and the clinicals. as for your first question, yes you cannot anymore take the one-day part B. Philippine Red Cross is the only accredited institution you can undergo the cpr training. medication calculation will be given to you once you enroll in the module. I'm not xure about the hep b evidence, maybe certified true copy is enough. good luck!

happy new year to all!!
