I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
I emailed DD this morning but no response yet. I may just have to call over there but I know they will not be trying to help me. Its just really strange to me and because Im nervous it makes me think maybe something was wrong with my application or something.
At any rate please let me know what they discuss and if any scholarship money would be available to part time people with bachelor degrees...wishful thinking but hey.
MDC...ugh
@Tatortots
I would not worry about your admission, just because you did not receive an email for scholarship opportunities. It could be because you applied to a part-time program. I believe most scholarships mandate that you apply and get accepted to full-time programs. But in any case, look on the MDC Nursing home page and look at the scholarships noted on there to see whether the assumption is correct. Working yourself to an anxiety episode is only going to make the wait that much worser:).
Tatortots and everyone,
Hi,
I'm in my second semester of the Generic full-time program (never thought I'd be saying that!) :-D. I'm not around much on allnurses this semester b/c the pace at school has picked up significantly, but I just wanted to let you know that as far as I remember this email was only received by those who were going for full-time, and they mostly only discussed scholarships for full-time students at that meeting from what I remember. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't any scholarships available to part-time students, so don't worry too much. That may be why you didn't receive the email
When we arrived at the meeting, many of us had already received our acceptance letters, but some had not. They told us that everyone in the room had made it very far through the selection process and had a good chance of being accepted, but they didn't make any guarantees.
Good luck to everyone, hope to see you all this coming fall!

Thank u so much for posting. I think I speak for myself and the others how much we appreciate your feedback. Congrats on making it to your second semester and wishing you full success with the completion of the program:yeah:.
Hi guys!
Pre-nursing student also, how do you guys feel about re-taking a class for a better grade. I got a C+ in my English class (not me, my professor gave out only ONE A). I have mostly A's, and two B's in the rest of my pre req's. I want to re-take and get an A, is this a bad idea?
PLEASE HELP!
English really does not count that heavily towards their decision.

60% TEAS
Put your effort into getting an awesome score on the TEAS and that your science grades are high. If you had a low grade in a science then it would be recommended to take that over if they allow.
