Any LPN's making over $60,000 a yr?

Published

I hear so much about the RN's making a great salary with overtime. Just wondering are there any LPN's making a great living too? Please tell me what state you are in too so I can move as soon as I graduate :)

I earn $9 an hour less than the RN's I work alongside.

The national average salary for LPNs is just under $38,000 yearly, according to this link. In order for the typical LPN/LVN to earn $60,000 per year, a whole lot of overtime shifts would have to be worked and/or a second job would have to be held.

An LVN could earn well over $70,000 working for the California Department of Corrections as a prison nurse, but that job carries a whole slew of inherent risks. In addition, the cost of living is outrageous in many parts of that state.

I earned $47,000 last year.

In many places an RN is salaried and does not earn overtime pay. As an LPN I made 46K last year. As The Commuter stated, an LPN/LVN would need a 2nd job to earn 60K.

If I had stayed at my last job in a nursing home, I would be making close to $60k a year including my $2000 hire on bonus. But sorry.... I got burned out of working 50-60 hour weeks, super high stress, and unsafe pt. loads... I would so much rather have a $15k pay cut and have a better job where I don't have so much mandatory overtime!

The closest I have come is $57,000.00 By working in Home Health care and seeing a great number of patients. Last year I made $55,000.00 by working QAS in the office and seeing patients after work. But it is extremely hard (paperwork).

I just heard today that the VA hospitals in my area are paying LPNs a starting salary of about $52,000 (with heavy experience) and there is a private hospital that is starting them with $48,000. I am sure that with overtime, it can cut to $60,000 yearly. My pay at my hospital sucks (37,000 a year), but am under contract with them since they paid my way through school. I owe them about two more years, and then, I will go over yonder, if the opportunities are still available.

I work for an agency that pays a flat rate of $32 an hour in Philadelphia and surrounding areas for all shifts/facilities. Yes they take out all taxes and no there aren't any benefits so my husband carries those and I make the money. We live right outside of the city so the cost of living is pretty low. I do 1-2 OT shifts a week so I break out about 70k a year before taxes. Hope this helps. You need at least one year LTC experience as an LPN

I make right at $32k a year and my LPN wife makes right at $35k a year so we make $67k a year.. Add the OT and holidays and we make $70k a year together..

NOT TOO bad considering we both work ONLY Mon, Tues, Wed.. 36 hours a week..

Where do you work as an LPN? How many years experience do you have?
