Germophobic considering Nursing. please help!
When I say germophobe I am not speaking of an illness that needs treatment. I like the way I am extra careful in public restrooms, or I how I avoid walking in the path of someone who just sneezed or coughed etc. I guess I am really "germ aware". Antibacterial wipes and gels are my friend :) I am not sure how that would all change if I became a Nurse. Maybe I should become a LPN first so that I don't invest too much time before knowing my fate.

Germophobic considering Nursing. please help!
I appreciate all of the responses sorry if it comes off as "trolling" I have considered nursing for about 8 yrs now. My mom and all of her sisters are RN's so it's in my blood. However, working as a Medical Coder at a desk for over 7 yrs has made me comfortable having little patient contact. Although I keep thinking nursing is really my calling. I just wish I wasn't so paranoid about germs and unclean people.

Germophobic considering Nursing. please help!
I would like to know if I am an extreme germophobic could Nursing still be for me? I want to help people and I feel as though Nursing is the way to do it. However, if someone sneezes or coughs I run in a different direction. I don't touch door knobs without a papertowel etc. I don't like to be around people that are not clean or have an odor.. Be it cigarette smoke what have you. Could I still make a good Nurse? Or should I stick with my desk job?????

Anyone torn between Nursing and Clinical Social Work?
Just wondering if there is anyone out there that thinks they may enjoy Nursing or Clinical Social Work and can't figure out which one? I know Nursing has more job opportunities but Nursing has the patient care aspect that you have to experience before becoming a Case Mgr or before you go into other areas.

I don't understand how Nurses are happy..
First, I truly respect Nurses and I am in awe of how they can handle so much on a day to day .. Nurses are very smart and great multi-taskers I have tried to talk myself into going back to school to become a Nurse and I can't do it. I work on the Nursing units everyday as a Clinical Documentation Specialist and the hard work involved in Nursing is unreal. 12 hr shifts and then overtime required in order to make the 60,000 plus salaries just doesn't seem worth it to me. Not to mention always watching your license from being taken etc etc. Although I am 30 and have a family I think I would rather spend more time in school and become a Pharmacist or something that does not require such direct contact with people.. Good luck to all of you pursuing Nursing.

Physician Assistant vs. Nurse Which would you choose?
I am trying to weigh my options if I should become a Nurse or a PA? I am currently in the medical field but not with patient care and I make a pretty good living doing it. However, I would like to do patient care but more on the diagnosis and treatment level. Nevertheless, there is still a small part of me that would rather become a nurse due to the job opportunities and flexibility plus it won't take as long to do the program. So ladies please help me ? pros/ cons?

Thank u all for the advice.. now my next question is .... will the nursing field be worth all of the trouble? I hear so many negative things about it
