Any of you living in Arizona??

Published

Hi everyone!

I am hoping some of you could help..

I am looking to relocate from Indiana to Arizona and I am needing to find a RN job in a good hospital in the Phoneix, Surprize AZ area. I am looking for suggestions of good places to work. I was looking on some job sites and there are so many jobs posted, so many to choose from compared to where I live. There are places here where I live where I would never want to work, as they are horrid places with no standards of care.

I currently work in a 36 bed LDRP unit, we do all of our own C-sections and recovery. I am also trained to scrub, circulate and assist in the L&D OR.

We have about 800-1,000 deliveries a year on our unit.

I have 5 years L&D, maternal child and OR expereince.

I currently have a RN licence in Indiana, what steps do I need to take to get my licence in AZ?

Thanks for all of your help.

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

I heard that John C Lincoln have a really good birthing centre and are always looking for L&D nurses. It is north of Phoenix, shops are good everywhere. I live in Anthem and it would be a 20 min drive

I am a native Arizonan, and would love to go back. Housing costs are getting so outrageous, though! I just read in USA today that home prices in the metro PhX area have more than doubled since 2000.

You know where I live whilst still expensive are dropping because all the investors are dumping houses on the market now. Plus a lot of the families who moved here from CA are going back.

Hi all, I just moved to Chandler last Fri. I'm not working right now, but I hope to be soon. I need medical care first. Any ideas how to transfer my nursing license. I would love to talk to other nurses in this area. It's near Mesa, Tempe and Phoenix. Thanks, Carol

Do you live in one of the compact states? If so you can practice in AZ with your compact state license.

The website for the State Board is www.azbn.gov

The current list of compact states is AZ, AR, DE, ID,

IA, ME, MD, MS, NE, NH, NM, NC, ND, SC, SD, TN,

TX, UT, VA, WI.

I live in the east valley, in Gilbert. We just opened a new hospital, Gilbert-Mercy (CHW), last month and they're also building a new Banner hospital out here. I love the area, the housing prices are more reasonable than some of the other areas in Phx and it is growing by leaps and bounds. We have a brand new mall going up, supposed to be the biggest in AZ with all the really nice stores (Nordstroms etc) and they just opened up a new freeway through here as well. I can't say enough about this area, I just love it. I'm planning on moving next year (I've just had three kids graduate high school), but I will definitely stay in this area.

I've heard really good things about Banner for new grads. I plan on working OR when I graduate and Banner has a three month perioperative program (or so I've been told). I have several friends who are nurses, two who work for CHW at Chandler Regional. One of them used to work for Banner and likes CHW better, but for new grads says Banner is better because of the training. My other friend who is a NICU nurse at CHW gets awesome benefits and when she goes into work on her days off, they more than compensate her.

Now that she's moved here, if she came from a compact state, she has to get an AZ license, unless this is not going to be her permanent address. One of the quirks of the compact system. She can work under the compact license for 30 days while she obtains an AZ license. And then she has to give up her home state license, because she can only be licensed in one compact state at a time.

The compact seems to be good for travel nurses, and telephonic nurses who practice in multi-states simultaneously, but it's not a substitute for licensure when you move.

If any of you are interested in Yuma, Az., we are growing by leaps and bounds. We have a brand new cardiac unit and now doing open hearts. We are the only hospital in town and for miles as for as that goes. Our pay is very good and comparable to hospitals all over the state. I work on med-surg even though it is hard work I enjoy it. We have a very friendly group of nurses on our floor, but I find that pretty much all over our hospital. If you are thinking to moving to Arizona give us a thought. Small town, less traffic.

Yeah, I hear you! I'm a native Arizonan too, moved back here after away at school for a few years. Luckily the housing costs are going down, somewhat ..... so I guess now would be the time to buy, or here in the near future. It's actually sad how fast the valley has grown. I remember when Chandler was small and you had to drive through all the dirt fields and farms. Now it's all housing developments :( Too many people keep on movin' in ..... makes me wonder where us natives will end up, lol.

Plus a lot of the families who moved here from CA are going back.

Really? Why?

A lot came here as an investment, some cant stand the heat but for others they miss their families.

There are 800 plus house fro sale in my little area, and nearly everyone you go see the agent says-theyve gone back to CA or they are from CA and they bought this as an investment. They are nearly all empty brand new houses.

The one we want to buy is in a row of three, we got a bit worried why they were all up for slae, it turns out they were bought by three investor friends from yeah you got it-CA
