Any of you living in Arizona??

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi everyone!

I am hoping some of you could help..

I am looking to relocate from Indiana to Arizona and I am needing to find a RN job in a good hospital in the Phoneix, Surprize AZ area. I am looking for suggestions of good places to work. I was looking on some job sites and there are so many jobs posted, so many to choose from compared to where I live. There are places here where I live where I would never want to work, as they are horrid places with no standards of care.

I currently work in a 36 bed LDRP unit, we do all of our own C-sections and recovery. I am also trained to scrub, circulate and assist in the L&D OR.

We have about 800-1,000 deliveries a year on our unit.

I have 5 years L&D, maternal child and OR expereince.

I currently have a RN licence in Indiana, what steps do I need to take to get my licence in AZ?

Thanks for all of your help.

I work as a tech for Banner but have been very happy there. Check out Banner Estrella. If you don't mind a short drive you might check out Banner Good Samaritan. One of my ADN classmates works in L&D there and loves it. There are probably other employers on that side of town but I live to the East of PHoenix and don't get over there very often.

For licensing information check with the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

This is too funny. :) I live in Indiana (Northeastern) and am looking for the same info, but I have 3 years Coronary ICU experience not L&D. We are looking at somewhere in the East Valley (Chandler/Gilbert area). You could check out the travel nurse forum too.

I've been looking at Catholic Healthcare West online, supposedly it's a good co. to work.

Hi,

I just started at CHW and so far I'm pretty impressed. If you're looking for particular info feel free to pm me.....

I am also in Indiana. I am looking to relo to AZ or Cali after graduation. I just do not like it here. My family has all left and moved to FL. I do not want to work there as I hear conditions (and pay) are horrendous. The heat of AZ does not bother me one bit.

Mattsmom: I couldn't pm you because your folder is too full :)

Do you know what the base pay is for CHW Chandler Regional or Gilbert Mercy is? I have 3 years ICU experience and don't know what I should expect base pay wise. Do they offer weekend and night differentials? Do they have strictly baylor nurses?

Do you work for a travel co. If so which one?

I read you post last night over in the general nursing forum about hourly pay. To be sure, you would make more than $5-6 more that what you are making in Indiana at least. New grads are starting at about $24/hr.

I'm in Tucson, so I'm of no help to you as far as where to work. But I do know that there is one hospital up there that did have Baylor. Hopefully some of these PHX folks know which one. I did Baylor for 4 years as a tech and loved it!

I have friends who live in Surprise. My friend delivered both her babies at Thunderbird hospital. It is a little bit of a drive but not to bad from Surprise. I hear alot of good things about Thunderbird esp their labor and delivery unit. Surprise is a pretty good area right now to buy some nice homes and new neighborhoods but kinda a bummer on the traffic and shopping but its growing fast. Good luck!

I am LOL..

All of us Hoosiers can't wait to get out of Indiana...LOL! Indiana is a nice place to live and the cost of living is very low here, AZ is a bit higher but worth it with no cold winters there..;)

I am also thinking of the Chandler, Tempe and Surprize areas..I have been looking at maps trying to figure which areas are closer to shopping and Good hospitals.

I think the Banner system sounds very nice and they have Magnet status, plus I see they pay more for any certifications like RNC..anyone have a clue how much more they pay for a RNC vs. RN. I am planning of getting my RNC at the current place I am working, plus I was thinking that it would be a great idea to also get my RNC in the OR, since I love working in the L&D OR on our unit.

:lol2:

There is shopping all over the valley and they've made real progress with the freeway system the past few years. I like the East Valley but I have friends in the North and West valley who love it there.

Hi all!

Im from Ohio and I agree! I cant wait to get out of here! Im moving to Phoenix in about 8 weeks! Im so psyched. I can't wait to be away from the midwest. I accepted an offer at St. Jospehs Medical Center in Central Phoenix. Im living in Chandler/Mesa area. The commute will suck but I dont care it will better than here! My new grad pay is 23.10 plus shift diff for the new grad who asked about pay. Thats higher than the standard 19 here. Yay!

I am originally from NW Indiana. I moved out here 18 years ago. Best thing we ever did. Now I work for Banner Good Sam. They do have magnet status, but they do NOT pay extra for certifications. I have my CCRN and it means nothing (except to me). I can't tell you too much about the Banner systems because I have only worked for this hospital about 4 mos. So far I don't love it, but I'll have to wait and see. Also the benefits kind of suck relative to where I have worked in the past out here. For the nurse who works in L&D and looking for the Surprise area, Del Webb Memorial hospital has a L&D dept and is a nice hospital. I don't have a clue about L&D, but I know that Sun Health corp has good wages and benefits. Scottsdale Healthcare Shea also has a beautifull L&D dept. and they too have very good benefits and pay relative to the rest of the valley, but that is pretty far from Surprise. There are tons of hospitals out here to choose from. Again I dont' know anything about L&D as I have been a critical care nurse for these las 18 years, but I did work at both the hospitals I mentioned and know the benefits and wages are good relative to the rest out here. I left Del Webb only because we moved, I left Scottsdale for diferent unit specific reasons which should not affect your L&D experience.
