Just found out Tuesday I am starting Nursing School in January at GCC. I have been going there for 3 years getting my pre req's out of the way and finally starting Nursing School. How do we find out our class schedule?
Never too early to find study groups

I bought a bunch of my books through the GCC bookstore used, they were cheaper than any site on the internet. I checked almost all of them and they were still a couple dollars cheaper. I called the school the other day to make sure they recieved everything I faxed to them and they said they have it all, but they have not registered anyone into the classes yet. That is why it doesn't show up online yet. It just says you are registered, but do not have any classes at this time. Hope every one has a nice Thanksgiving, I'm just happy we do not have class!! Talk to you all later. Kel
Hi everyone!! I've been looking online for books and found that Barnes and Noble has some great deals, no tax, free shipping 10% off. Some of the books are even newer editions and come packaged with the workbooks. I called the ND this morning and was told that I could get newer editions, she also said there's been a change to Wong's Pediatric Nursing. Did anyone get this change? Wasn't quite sure what she was talking about, if she meant it had been updated like I was asking about, or what. She always seems like she's in such a hurry I get flustered.
Kelly, when are you going to go pick up your books? Do they have them ready for you pretty quickly? TG no school this week, but I still need to do the assignments, I think one of them is due today, ughh.

What change? I bought the 7th ed. Do we need a newer one? There were some books I could not find. I guess the new editions are not out yet?
I bought all the ones I could find. Are you going to buy any of the optional ones? I bought successful test taking, that is my weakness. I figured that would help me. I figured I would wait until the classes started before I buy too many of the optional ones. Sometimes the instructors will recommend things, Ya know? Keli, did you get the assignment turned in? I did mine this morning. I really didn't find too much info, but she only wanted two. Well, have a nice Thanksgiving, see you next week.Kelly
I liked the cardio III better....Apparelpro is on University Drive just east of i-10...They also have a booth at the indoor swapmart....here's a link to their site:if you click on the MCCD link on their site you'll get a peak at our "stylish" uniforms lol!.....I'm olive skinned and I look green when I wear green! :uhoh21:
The Apparel Pro at swapmart is closed down girls. Don't waste your time going there. Stop by the lab at school before you buy the tops - you can probably get the top for free. We all donate ours to the lab at the end of block 4!
Now, about steths. I have a Cardio III and the only complaint I have is that it has a long lumen. You can hear better with shorter lumens. Just because it costs more doesn't mean you can hear better :rotfl: Keep in mind that lumen length!
Good luck to all :)

Kelly- I'm not sure what's up with the editions. From B&N the Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing comes with the care plan book, but they say they are edition 4 pub in '05, the list says they are supposed to be edition 5 and 4, published '03 and '04. I think I"ll just order the one on B&N and if there's a problem I can always return it. Yeah, I finished my assignment last night, I hope I did it right, we'll see I guess. She's supposed to have the final study guide online today.
I checked out some steth's yesterday and took my 7yo with me. I really could hear her a lot better with the Cardio III. My biggest worry was the cheap ones you get in CNA class really hurt my ears. By the end of the day they were always hurting really bad. I want to make sure that doesn't happen this time. Both the SE and the CArdio III didn't hurt my ears, the earpieces were very cushy. Right now Allheart has a great deal on the Cardio III, for $120 (as opposed to $199 everywhere else), plus, as Mary pointed out, you get a free DVD or CD (can't remember) that's normally worth $49, and I think it has heartsounds and stuff on it (can't remember that either):rotfl:

Hi Everyone,
I was at MCC's bookstore today and they have all of their books in for Spring. Most of the books are the same as the ones you need at GC. The only only books I didn't see was Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, and Nursing Interventions & Clinical Skills....There were only about 2 used books there.....the rest were new due to some of them being new editions.....
ttyl,
Mary
Nothings free Luann, LOL. I think they charge atleast 5 bucks (which is nothing, really) for a used top. But remember you guys, you are going to use it for four semesters. Plus, they have a lot of the polos but not too many scrub tops. I think we cleaned them out last semester.....
Oh man, that is almost criminal. We turn them in and they sell them for 5 bucks? :chuckle Maybe I would get more satisfaction by burning them :rotfl: BTW, I recommend getting 2 sets - you don't want to be doing laundry on clinical days.
I am doing my 4th block preceptorship over at Arrowhead ICU. I am really loving ICU. I have 4 more 12 hour shifts and I am free and clear of nursing school!
