Any GCC Students?

U.S.A. Arizona

Just found out Tuesday I am starting Nursing School in January at GCC. I have been going there for 3 years getting my pre req's out of the way and finally starting Nursing School. How do we find out our class schedule?

Never too early to find study groups

Kelly,

Did you guys have your assessment test today? We have it on Friday, ughh. I can't wait until it's over too. How are your classes going? Our teacher is awesome, I wish she was going to be with us for the rest of our blocks. What days are you going to school? Do you ever come in on Fridays? I met some women in my class and we're carpooling which helps a lot.

Hope all is going well with everyone else. The weeks seem to fly by during the weekend program, how about for the full-time? I can't believe I'm back in school in two days!!

Well I got the first test out of the way, and lived to tell about it . It actually wasn't too bad, and now I know how to study better and what to study. I hope the pharm and process tests are similar. We also took THE math test and I got 100, so that's a big relief, until next semester :rotfl: . I'm still loving it, so that's a good thing. I hope everyone else is doing okay. I've seen ItalianRN and Angie123 a couple of times, but I'm still waiting to run into Thrashej.

I'll chat with you guys later.

Keli,

Glad things are going well for you. You'll run into me eventually. As of yet, I have not spent much time in the lab. We will probably see each other more then.....:)

I am glad you are likin' Laurie. She rocks! :p

Janice,

Is your long day Fri or Sat? Mine is Sat. Yes, you were so right about Laurie, in fact we've already been trying to convince her to go on with us to block 2 :rotfl: . We met one of the block three instructors yesterday, I"m wondering if he's the one you all were talking about last semester.

I ran into some Blk I nursing students at my son's school today. I guess they've already started their clinicals, they're from ASU, and are working with pre-schoolers. They're in a weekend program too, Thurs-Mon, I never knew ASU had one of those.

Well, I guess I better get some studying done while I have a few minutes. I'll chat later with you guys, glad everyone seems to be doing okay so far.

Yes, he is who we were talking about last semester, but I heard he was nice depsite how he seems...

My days are pretty much the same cuz I have patho too...I go to school both days till 2:30. I start a bit earlier on Sat.

Study??? Arrrgghh. Yep, I got a Pharm test this week...off to study too!!!:uhoh3:

Wow, EVERYBODY on this board has disappeared!! I hope everyone at GCC (and all other new students) are doing well. We took our pharm and process tests this week, they weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. Our teacher told us this morning that 11 people have already left the full-time program!!! Is that true?? I almost couldn't believe it, it's only 3 weeks into the program. A friend of mine told me that at MCC they lost 3 people before the first day of class!!! Just think of all these slots going to waste :angryfire Just like fall semester when we saw all those slots that weren't filled and there was nothing we could do about it. Well, I don't plan on giving my spot up until...December '07!!

Everything in our class seems to be going good. We haven't had anyone drop and the studying doesn't seem too hectic yet. I've just tried to study some every day and it appears to be working so far. We'll see how it goes in blk II :rotfl:

Well, I guess I better get going, it's been a looonnnnnggg day.

Well, I am around, mostly lurking, but...

Schools been going good so far. About the same as last block. We don't have as many things to check off on, so in that way it seems easier. We are almost done with OB lectures and are going to be moving on to med surg, which I heard is the harder part.:uhoh3: So far, the teachers seem pretty cool (not as cool as you know who, but...) and fair. First Pharm test was pretty easy, all NCLEX type questions from the Pharm book. We watched a movie in Role yesterday. LOL. Pretty cool. Now that is one dumb class.:rotfl:

Have you had any check offs yet Keli??:uhoh21:

Thrashej,

Yes, we had sterile glove check off. Pretty easy. This week we have passing meds. I'm still trying to figure out everything she needs to know, and trying to get familiar with Davis DG. I'm loving school so far, I feel like I'm learning a lot, but it just doesn't seem fast enough, YKWIM? I almost wish I was in the accelerated program, lolol. I guess because a lot of this is a refresher since we had a lot of the same type of stuff in CNA class. I'm sure by next semester I'll be begging the teacher to slow down. :roll

Well I better get some stuff ready for the superbowl, we're going to my dh's boss's house. FUN FUN.

LOL, sterile glove was the one where I couldn't figure out which thumb had to be abducted. I'd probably still screw it up!! It was pretty bad early in the semester when I thought I could not even do that right!!:rotfl: I am glad you are having fun Keli. You seem very ambitious and driven to succeed. I understand why someone like you would prefer an accelerated route...:) Not me tho............slow and easy........er, easier!!..........keeps the anxiety down, a major problem for me most days!!!:chuckle

Got two tests this week. Gotta go workout and study!! :) See ya round!!

I almost missed the abducted thumb too. I abducted it a little later than she preferred, it's amazing how hard such a simple thing can seem :rotfl: . I'm glad you're sticking with the program, is it easier or harder in block II? I would prefer it to go faster just because it seems like I"ve been working on this so long and two years seems like an eternity now. I'm hoping it goes by quickly, but it just seems like my life is on hold until I get through NS. We can't move, I can't get a job, just stuff like that. Plus it seems like we just get into something at school and then class is over. I'm sure it helps that I'm not working, it would be completely different if I were.

Working out is something I need to fit back into my schedule. I stopped during the holidays b/c I was so busy, and now I"m paying for it!!

Well, I better get some studying done too.

Keli
