We were discussing the Disneryland measles outbreak at work, and I was appalled to find some of my co-workers refuse to vaccinate their kids. They (grudgingly) receive the vaccines they need to remain employed, but doubt their safety/necessity for their kids.
I must say, I am absolutley stunned. How can one be a nurse and deny science?
As a nurse, you should darn well know what the scientific method entails and what phrases such as "evidence based" and "peer reviewed" mean.
I have to say, I have lost most of my respect for the nurses and mistrust their judgement; after all, if they deny science, on what premise are they basing their practices?
I did...right here...Vaccines to prevent influenza in healthy adults | CochraneAlso, I wouldn't say that vaccines and autoimmune issues could have a link is a lie. It's possible. It's also possible that vaccines do cause other health problems and maybe even contribute to cancer, but we don't know for sure do we? Have studies been done? I don't know. I doubt it. Most studies are trying to show how safe it is.
We know beyond a reasonable doubt. That's what science and statistics demonstrates.
No one can say for sure that these vaccinations do not cause auto-immune diseases or cancer! If anyone trusts the government to protect you the you are living in a fantasy world. Look up collateral damage. What happens when someone in your family is not one of the better for the greater good.
We can say beyond a reasonable doubt. I amazed at all the people that just don't understand the basic idea of science.
I'm going to start a bottled water company. My marketing campaign will center around the fact that my water is produced orificenic-free. My bottles will be labeled as such, my commercials will state it boldly, and I will publish scientific reviews that agree that my water is orificenic-free. I will then begin a campaign against Dasani demanding they explain why they don't label their bottles as being orificenic-free. The water industry shall be mine.
I understand the basic ideas of science and for you to feel people don't understand is very arrogant. I am not a layperson. I am educated. I am fully vaccinated...but I just do not believe that the government should force/bully people into being vaccinated if they choose not too. After all shouldn't our vaccinations protect us from those who are not??? I understand that some people cannot be vaccinated and would not have that protection but they should take extra precautions then.
Antibiotic use in animals is another debate, but there is no evidence to support that properly handled and cooked meat would have any effect on antibiotic resistance in people. Improperly cooked meat where the meat was infected and the animal had been given antibiotics regularly through its feed could theoretically cause antibiotic resistance infection.
Just because there is no evidence doesn't mean it isn't a problem.
I understand that some people cannot be vaccinated and would not have that protection but they should take extra precautions then.
What would you have them do? Parents of vaccine-allergic kids with asthma - should they be forced to home school? Let's just quarantine all the old people. And really, people with cancer are pointless anyway, especially the ones with children. Let's ship them off to live on cancer wards.
What a horrible perspective!

Everyone knows the village midwife curses people against whom she has grudges with it. By giving them the evil eye.
