I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.
My status:
I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.
When I signed my DA 61 it was the same way, nad I also had to go through the packet and initial and sign in ink in several other places.
Side Note Has anyone heard of there being a board meeting on Nov 2. I spoke to my recruiter this morning, and I was told they were going to try to get me in on the 2nd. When I asked about it being 2 boards not just 1 on Nov 16 the reply was there was more than 1. This is the first I have heard of this anywhere. No one else has even given a hint that the date is anytime but the 16th. Can someone else ask their recruiter to confirm or deny?
The hardest part is having to deal with the recruiters and the different snippets of info that is leaked out. I wish they would just tell us all what the deal is so there would be no more question, and then we would just be stuck waiting. The uncertainty is making me anxious:eek:

Hadn't heard anything about two boards in November, unless the one for October got pushed back? Dunno! Please let us know if/when you hear anything else.

Hey, Truama. Scroll up a bit. RNburnout mentioned going to November 2 Boards too. It is the first time I have heard of the date as well. I think I will ask about that when I wake up.
I would totally believe that Nov 2 is the deadline submission date for the Nov 16 board. It is not uncommon that the cut off date for a board will be a week or so earlier. This allows for the members of the board to determine how many packets they need to process, make a list to annotate findings etc.
However, this is not what my recruiter made it seem like what was going on. I have decided that I am not going to worry about it Nov 2, Nov 16, it is all Nov. I am a little more relaxed cause I know all of my stuff is done, and signed. Now I am content to wait until someone tells me something. If I don't I will make myself crazy in the next month.
Side note, I reviewed some posts from last year, and the board met around the same time, and it took them a month almost to get the results. So I will keep my fingers crossed for a little gold bar under my tree this year.
I just met with my recruiter today and signed all my forms and my package is off to boards. YAY!!!!
He was telling me that the deadline is November 2nd and that if there is anything wrong with my packet it will be sent back from people that are doing the initial look-over...Then we can fix anything and have it sent back. He did tell me that there is only one board for this year and the next one is in February.
There are going to be 100 nurses that they take this year--but has anyone been told how many total applicants there are going to be? I am feeling like this is going to be really competitive!
Nonetheless, I am SO excited!!! This wait is going to be BRUTAL!!

I too am curious how many applicants there will be. I know my recruiter is only submitting 3 AD nursing applications. Sooo...either we are blowing this out of proportion or my state is too country to attract nurses because we dont like shoes and boots would just asking for too much8-D Anywhoo...im tired of thinking about it. Lets just live...whatever happens happens
I know ... I'm tired of wondering about numbers and quotas, I could drive myself nuts with it! So I'll just focus on being as prepared as I can be, and not worry about the rest of the applicants. (But I hope we all get in! )

ok, i have to do meps again. well, i don't but past packets are outdated and my dod is missing exams that meps covers. in order to complete those exams i will have to pay way more out of pocket then if i just travel and complete meps next week.
i also have a few papers to get in and i will be done. in fact, i will be cutting it closer then most because not only will i get my meps done next week, additional related papers in next week, but i will also have to sign my packet electronically next week. my recruiter reports that the cut-off date is november 2 for all recruiters to complete packets and submit to boards. the boards meets on the november 16th.
btw, i have been on the phone with my recruiter all morning and maybe got 20 minutes of sleep straight... possibly 45.... i lost count how many times i had to answer the phone.... my husband kept waking me up.... i think the second time he woke me up he said, "wake up, it's your recruiter! you can sleep when you're dead." as odd as it sound, this was motivating because i figure there will be times when i won't get much sleep in the army and will have to perform as if i am wide awake! good luck everyone.

So i was talking to my recruiter yesterday because my packet is "almost done" and he needs just one or two more days to work on it. Then i asked well how am i going to sign it because im on a travel assignment 6 hours away. His response was..."i have not a clue, i guess we need to think about that huh." So now he is on the hunt for a "colleague" in my area. Well atleast he was being honest. So then i got to asking about numbers seeing how much info he was willing to give up or actually knew. Well turns out that there will probably be another board in either Feb or March. It's not a sure thing but i thought it was interesting and wanted to share.
