ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

I just got an email from my recruiter stating that my application packet was all in order and ready for board. However, he also said that they just had their meeting with the program directors and that there will only be 10 slots nation wide for Army Nurse Candidate Program. I will cross my fingers because I am scared to hold my breath :uhoh21:

Maybe I am clueless but is what is the difference between the Army Nurse Corps and Army Nurse Candidate program? I am 22 and going to be graduating in May but my recruiter made it sound like I was going to the same board as experienced nurses and other new nurses. If it is a new grad program and that is the only thing they will consider me for I am really nervous because that is NOT many people!!

If I'm reading it correctly, you get into the ANCP while still a student to ensure entry into the Army Nurse Corps. So people accepted in the ANCP will commission into the Army Nurse Corps when they graduate/pass NCLEX.

Hmmm I guess I'm not sure about that. My recruiter just told me that my package is going to be going to the November 16th boards and I will be going against new nurses as well as experienced. He also stated that they are taking 100 new nurses this year which I didn't think was much, but if I am only going to get a shot at 1 out of 10 slots that is really concerning! He never mentioned anything about that to me.

On to the board!

The Nurse Candidate Program is a bonus/stipend program for nursing students. If accepted the student receives a bonus and monthly stipend while they are in school (up to 24 months) and then, upon passing the NCLEX, they are commissioned into active duty Army Nurse Corps.

Hmmm I don't think I am going that route. I won't be getting money while I am finishing up my last few months of school. I will be commissioned as soon as I pass my NCLEX and will leave next August. I am going to be getting the loan repayment of up to $120,000.

I wouldn't be upset about getting into that program and getting a monthly stipend my last few months though that is for sure! As long as I am still gettin my loan repayment

Ok so good news comes in 3's.... I emailed my Recruiter, it's official. My packet was made board ready yesterday. The physical was approved! :yeah:

Now bring on that nail biting and waiting for an answer. If it takes as long as it did last year, only a month and a half to go!:uhoh3:

Is this your second time applying? ...and it took a month and a half?

My recruiter said that he thought we should have answers for sure before Thanksgiving.

So many good news:yeah:..Can't wait!!
