ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

No it is not my 2nd time applying, but I have been reading this message board for a few years before I qualified for M5. If you go back in the threads to last year this time and read some of the posts, it took almost a month to find out the results. The board met around the same time and applicants had been assured by their recruiters that they would find out in a week. One week turned into 3+, so I think it was mid December when the results were made available.

I just want everyone to know before the board meets as to lighten some of the anxiety of waiting! Enjoy your turkey, watch some football& pass the time away while you secretly bite your nails :)

My recruiter projected December (first or second week) as the time when we'd know something. I think Turkey Day is probably a bit too soon to hear, although maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. :D

Ok so good news comes in 3's.... I emailed my Recruiter, it's official. My packet was made board ready yesterday. The physical was approved! :yeah:

Now bring on that nail biting and waiting for an answer. If it takes as long as it did last year, only a month and a half to go!:uhoh3:

AWESOME!!!! That is such great news!!! I'm wicked happy for you!!:yeah:

Finally got my DD368 signed by my commander yesterday and copies to my recruiter today...SO EVERYTHING IS COMPLETE!! So now I can leave for OBLC on 4 Nov without worries about my packet... Well, not completely, but one can dream that it's all smooth sailing now!!!

Again, Congrats to you trauma!!!!:D:lol2::up:

Ok I am going to be officially crazy after this process is over. I find out today that my packet has been stopped by someone in QA somewhere. I think these people are nitpicking as a way to get rid of people because the slots are limited. So today they need copies of my current enlistment. Hello how obvious can it be I am in the Reserves already...for pete's sake what difference does it make? I also have to initial somewhere else, and the want to know about a break in service that I had. Again what difference does this make? I was in the IRR. What do they want me to say about it? This is making me very frustrated. I am running out of time. These kickbacks are totally bogus....

Venting, I have already scanned my contracts, and will go to FedEx in the AM.

LunahRN, I think you and I have the same recruiter! She's amazing. I was on the fence about the ANC before I met her, now if (more like when) I don't get in this time around, I'll be going for it again next year. She took the time out on her leave to call me and tell me my packet was ready too.

Bonne chance a touts (good luck to everyone)!

If your recruiter is out of the Maryland area, then yep -- probably the same. I hope we both get in this year, because she won't be a recruiter next year -- she's headed back to the ICU. :)

Yep, I'm in Balmer (Baltimore ). I know, I'll miss her, so far I've lucked out twice (fantastic Peace Corps and ANC recruiters), don't know if I'll be so luck a third time. Better get back to studying or all this is moot. Thanks for the distraction :specs:

i am going through the same, you two!!! i have to redo all of my letters of recs... still have not signed my electronic form... have been faxing little things all week (things i did not know i even needed)... and still have not gone to meps because of one letter from a doctor i have not seen in almost ten years (no joke). oh, and i might not get m5!

i have all of the requirements but the cv people want me to have a complete 2 years as a working nurse. however, i am only a few months away from that being a reality. nevermind the fact that by the time i get into the basic school i will have two years at that point!!!! i am going to send some of you email for some private advice.... i am disappointed. i want to be an army nurse but i do not want to get stuck in med surg again. been there done that! so i got a job two hours away (i need to go to work in a few) just to qualify for m5!!! seriously, i am contemplating waiting a year. i would not mind going 66h but when can i attend the critical care school… it is backed up and there are others already on the wait list???? i have a bad feeling i will never work m5 in the army even if it is in my contract if i choose the 66h route at this time.

oh, good luck everyone. :D

I got THE call from my recruiter today as well... turns out that after two years of putting my packet together, waiting and jumping through hoops... I am too old! Hello...couldn't someone have figured that out LAST year?

It seems that the regs state that you must receive your commission before turning 40 in order to be eligible for the Nurse Candidate Program... I'll be 41

I still have the option to wait and try to go direct commission after NCLEX, so looks like it is more waiting for me...
