ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

My brigade didnt want to send up my 368 request cause I hadnt been to OBC yet. My recruiter at least got them to send it up the chain. So my life is in the hands of the first general. Im really hoping he will release me to go RA. I shoulda just gone RA from the getgo! Anyhow, heres to hoping the general is in a good mood and wants to release a 66H. Im figuring since were overstrength with 66H in reserves I have an ok shot. If Im denied should I just resubmit another 368 in 6mos or so? Or after I go to OBC in June? Wondering how long you guys recomend I wait to resubmit request if my 368 was denied?

Other than that my packet appears to be good but even if I am selected I cant go RA unless im released... So well see what the board says!

Please, if anyone can tell me, is November 16, 2010 really the "magic" day? Does the Accession Board make their selections all within the day or that week? Have any of your recruiters given you an estimated time frame when you will know a decision? Could we be waiting until Christmas or even the first of the year before we are given and "Yes" or a "No?"

I mentioned this earlier, if it goes like last years boards you may not know an answer until the 1st or 2nd week in December. Then it will be late January to get the scrolls signed by congress. Then by the end of February or mid March we can expect calls about duty assignments, classes, etc.

My recruiter told me that I should know by Thanksgiving...but from what I keep hearing everyone is saying it took much longer last year. I am keeping my fingers crossed my recruiter is right though!!

Of we find out faster, then yay for us, but I just want everyone to be prepared so they don't drive themselves crazy over thanksgiving if they don't hear anything. It would be so cool if we would find out by thanksgiving, but I am counting on a gold bar under the tree for christmas!

Hi there, I hooked up w/ this link & thought I'd give whatever input I know :). I haven't been on Allnurses in forever it seems! But as I started getting a little antsy...I thought I'd look up info for emotional support, LOL :).

I was told by my recruiter that November 16th is THE only day where a very large panel gets together for that one day & goes through the packets as the board approval process....I was told this was after (which most of us are PLENTY aware of after our packets have been reviewed, sent back & tweaked a gazillion times over, ha) an extremely LARGE number of civilian staff members are hired to constantly go over our packets for "perfection" basically.

I was then informed that it will be about a week before we know anything. I was told from my recruiter that if I do not hear anything for a while after that week, to start calling somebody to see where I was at. So, unless I hear something new, I will for sure keep bugging people.

My main problem has been getting references sent in on time with the correct wording (after a couple being kicked back)....& the last two weren't able to be sent in until yesterday --which had me in a state of panic & HOPE that didn't screw my packet up because I haven't heard from my recruiter since then (though you can bet I tried calling :crying2:).

So there we are! Boards are 3 days away -Gack :o. !! I hope some of us get to meet in January!!

I have been told to submit my top 3 station choices. Anybody have any idea of where they want to be stationed? I'm slightly up in the air, but am more decisive after researching them -I guess :p

P.S. Anybody from NM? :)

I requested Ft. Carson (Colorado) as my top pick of duty station. I honestly don't recall what I put for second or third ... I should really know, though, because that's probably what I'll end up with ... but you know what? I'd take it! :D

Welcome to the wait! :)

I put Colorado for my first duty station too!...Then DC for my second and Seattle for my third!

I was an optimist at some of my friend's suggestions & put Fort Sam Houston, Fort Lewis (not sure in which order for those 2 yet) & then D.C. We'll see! ;)

I currently live just west/northwest of the DC area. Lived in the Seattle area when I was a kid, though -- loved it out there! I wouldn't mind being out there at all. My family is from Oregon.

I actually really wanted Germany too...but am still a little unsure of it as my very first selection.

I put Colorado as my top pick. I really really like it out there. After my husband gets back from his deployment he has orders to PCS back there. I'm hoping that if I do get in that his orders may influence mine ...if I get in! USAJOBS.gov actually has an opening for ER nurse right now at ft Carson for a civ nurse so it may be promising for you ER chickas out there.
