Welp. There will be a new President soon...He has promised to "repeal and replace" Obamacare.

The real question is (as someone who will be out of school and in practice soon) what will happen with our profession? I know with Obamacare, folks were saying NPs will be in high demand. Don't get me wrong, I know NPs will still be in demand, but what do you think it will look like?

You might be surprised but healthcare is more costly than ever before. You, my friend get to pay for everyone who has cancer, premature babies or end of life care. Do you know that ICU care is expensive? That cancer drugs have increased over 100% in the past 5 years? Of course you do! You voted for Trunp who is the expert in the Affordable Care Act. And that 22 million Americans who now have insurance might not. Because Obama never did anything to help us out. You and the president elect are our experts and I"m so relieved. You got this and it's solved.

May I ask to whom this was directed?

Presidents are not and do not have to be experts. This is true of any executive leader. They instead hire and appoint those who are or are capable of being.

And again repeal and replace ACA is not synonymous with stripping away health insurance.

Finally, forcing all of us to pay for the problems you cite is a socialist maneuver. There's no reason the masses should suffer for special interest problems.

I saw him on TV after he had the meeting with Obama that he likes the ideas of healthcare for people being on their parents' health plan until 26 years of age, and for those with preexisting conditions. Doesn't that sound like he isn't going to do away with it completely? It does to me. I think the public is in a panic due to the fear of the unknown. WHY DON'T YOU ALL GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE? He has proven he loves this country.

He has proven he loves this country.

Proven how?? When?? All he's ever proven is that he loves himself and money.

Finally, forcing all of us to pay for the problems you cite is a socialist maneuver. There's no reason the masses should suffer for special interest problems.

So, basically, you're advocating for a society in which those who can't afford expensive healthcare just die and don't hang around being a burden on the rest of us. Spoken like a true Republican.

I doubt Trump is an expert on anything other than grifting. He will not be the one making healthcare decisions it will be his advisors who seem to come from corporate America, lobbyist and people who donated to his campaign. Even though I expect an implosion I will sit back and see where this goes.

I am not sure I see healthcare as a socialist issue. Insurance companies pool risk and determine a premium. You absorb part of the cost for the treatment of others and there will always be those with high medical costs and we don't toss them from the facility because their care is expensive. Those without any insurance we end up paying for as well - hospitals spread the cost to the rest of us. Who is to say what "special interest problems" are? Was it the cancer? the ICU? Healthcare should be a right and not something out of reach for for Americans.

I am hopeful for the day when we have a National Health Care plan where every American citizen can receive care they need and not be turned away. I did not get into the medical profession to lose my heart and soul - I want those who need care to receive it and it scares me that there are those out there who think otherwise.

Don't we all at some level?

What did I state? Use cognition without affectation for a moment. You think real hard about my statements and report back.

Again, I didn't state anything about tossing them out in the cold. A boundary needs to be made somewhere so, at some point, then absolutely yes an individual is not going to receive the care he or she thinks is needed. We, as a society, cannot find ad nauseum every health problem conceivable.

I'm fine with providing everyone some element of coverage. More later. We're going out for a late breakfast.

Because little girls will grow up with the knowledge that a man can sexually assault someone, brag about it, and people will still elect him to be the most powerful person in the whole world. How can they feel safe reporting sex crimes?

Because he's vowed to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. This has been used and will be continued to be used by ISIS as propaganda to rally their troops of their hate against the US

Because he's determined to build a wall along the border of Mexico and calls Mexicans rapists.

Because his running mate signed a bill to jail people who applied for a same-sex marriage license.

Because he allows himself to be easily angered and goaded which is dangerous in the international community.

Because even if he doesn't mean a single word he has said, he has still stoked people's hatred and intolerance of those different from them. Hate crimes are being reported all over the US right now, just do a google search. Even if he doesn't mean any of his rhetoric, he has allowed it to be socially acceptable.

A POTUS has enormous influence in this country. It's not the bills he signs but the culture that he influences. And yes, even despite all that, the POTUS is still the most powerful person in the world. He can send military troops to fight wherever he wants without anyone's approval for two months. He can sign executive orders. Yes, we have checks and balances in our system- but a president can still do a lot of damage.

He has also stoked the middle class white people who are sick to death of all the liberal pandering, benefits and accommodations that everyone, even prisoners get, before they do. Note how Trump didn't really take off in the results until the end of the working day, you know, when all those disenfranchised people got off WORK.
