Hey! I'm going back to school NEXT WEEK :no:to start taking pre-reqs to pursue an RN degree...I have been a dental assistant for 13 years, so little out of the school loop...I'm also a single parent of a 6 month old baby (parents live in town, I can go there if I need them to watch him) ..
My worry is; I'm taking Psychology 101, Biology 101 & Chemistry 101....is that do-able?? Do other people take that many credits? That way, I will have (2) A & P's, another Psych & a Microbiology left ,..I already have the English 101 & am challenging the Math 96...
Am I crazy?? Give my your fav websites, etc... to go to for Chem help ( the one I'm worried about, have never taken it)
Thanks!!!

That's a hefty load, but anything is do-able if you stay focused. Unfortunately, I don't know of any sites to refer you to, but I'm sure our Daytonite, will be to the rescue to help you there.
Good Luck in your studies!

i am taking 15 hours in my bachelors program (sociology /criminal law) and if you don't stay on top of it ...it will eat your lunch. you must be very organized and definitely stay head or at least on track.

I took bio and chem together and was fine. I'd be more worried about taking a nursing class and AP together (which I also did.) You'll make it, it just takes a lot of motivation. I'm currently in OB Nursing, Microbiology, Biostatistics with 12 hour Saturday clinicals and working part-time. Anythings doable!

WOW. The Chemistry class scares me. The other classes are ok. I don't have any sites to recommend. However, I do recommend a book. It's called CHEMISTRY, the easy way. It really helped me when I took it.

No I think it you can do it. Psyc 101 is pretty easy and it will give you a break up against two sciences. The pre-nursing section always gave me alot of support because they have class specific groups. Good Luck!!

Those classes are not bad, I think you'll be ok as long as you keep up with the work and don't procrastinate! Wait til you get into nursing school, then the REAL work begins!
I feel a little bit better, knowing that there are other people out there that are taking on a big load like I am! Phew! School starts next week! yeep!

you should be fine. i'm taking 16 credits: foundations of nursing i (5 credits - includes a 3 hour lecture, 6 1/2 hour clinical & 2 hour lab), professional role development (3 credits - 2 hour lecture), science of nutrition (4 credits - two 2-hour lectures/week) & health assessment (4 credits - 2 hour lecture & 2 hour lab/week). it is a lot, but if you stay on top of things you will be fine. it's all about being organized and being able to manage your time effectively. good luck!

I think you'll be fine, for most bachelor programs you need to take 15-18 credits a term in order to graduate on time.

Nope. I'm taking 18 credits, I go to school Monday-Friday. I have 5 lectures and 3 labs. And I work 4 nights a week. It can get stessful at times, but anything is possible if you keep your eye on the prize!

I think you'll be fine! 3 isn't horrible. I take 3-4 and I have two kids. My GPA was a 4.0 until the first semester of nursing and I got a 3.76. I do NOT recommend taking 4 nursing classes your first semester (esp if 2 of them are 300 level). But all three of yours are 100 level so they won't be too intense at all. You'll do great and be done faster this way!
