I'm taking Chem, AP1 and Dietary Nutrition this semester. I know chem and AP are going to take a lot of my time, that's why I took an easier class to go along with them. I think AP2 on top of your other courses may just be too much, you don't want all your classes to suffer because your workload is too heavy. Why not add another easier class if you want to take 4, perhaps Psych, Sociology or Human G&D. Just a thought. Good luck!!

Everyone is different and you know yourself better than your friend knows you. I think you should take what you can handle and not what your friend thinks you can handle.

For most schools, A&P 2 has the pre-requisite of A&P 1. Good luck trying to take them in the sam semester.

Couldn't imagine what it would be like taking two major exams, or two quizzes in both APs on the same day. For that matter you could have a third in chem, or even a fourth in stat.

I just got through with A&P2, and I could not imagine taking them together! I also agree that most schools require A&P1 as a prerequisite to A&P2. At least mine does.

At our school, the only way you can take both A&P1 and A&P2 is if you are retaking A&P1 so that you can improve your grade. In order to take them both, you have to get permission from the head of the department.

yea, as others have said, it may have been too much to handle. it's much better to do well in your classes than to try and get through them quickly. because if you just try to get through them quickly and don't do well, you will have to wait to get into a nursing program anyway. personally i loved a&p but i wouldn't want to take them over again!
good luck!!

Hi!
I think it was very brave of you to try signing up for those three classes during the same semester. But it's hard to imagine just how tough A&P really is. A girl in my Chem class last semester was thinking of taking both I and II during the same semester, and everyone that had taken it or was taking it was trying to convince her not to. She didn't understand, she kept saying that she understood that she had to study-that's what you have to do for any class. But A&P is not just any class!
It turns out that the school would not even let her sign up for both classes during the same semester, she said there was no way around it.
I took A&P I along with Chem and Human Growth & Development last semester. I got all A's, but I'm telling you, all I did was STUDY! Especially for A&P. I don't even work!
My A&P class shrank to half it's original size by the end of the semester, and even some of the students who made it to the end still had to retake it. It's quite possible to do good, but it takes dedication. And that is the number one class that nursing schools look at when considering you for admissions!
Here is a friendly tip- read your book, make sure that you understand all of the information. Don't just think that you understand if you can follow along in the lecture. It helps tremendously to read ahead, too.
I wish you the best of luck this upcoming semester!! It sounds like you have a lot of determination. I bet you'll do great! :)
God bless!

thanks guys for the support...
and i can sign up for ap1 and ap2 at the same time, because ap1 isnt pre req to ap2 in my college.
i think i just wanted to get into the nursing program really fast =\
but my friend was telling me how if i do take those classes at the same time and get around Cs and Bs wont be worth it while not taking AP2 and just take ap1, chem, and stat and getting As
but yea i guess im not taking AP2 this semester... for some reason im really psyched about this major!!!
good luck to everyone else also!!

Yeah, that is a bit too much esp taking a&p 1&2.
I really am ready to just be finished with my pre-reqs, but I've made a plan and if it goes right, I'll enter NS in the fall of '10. Rushing it all would probably just hurt me in the end. You gotta know the stuff -- not just get a good grade. That's especially true with a&p

It is exciting isn't it?!?!! You have to get approval at my school to take them together. I am glad you aren't taking AP II along with AP I. It is true that your pre-req grades are very important. Just think, would you want to waste the time and money to repeat the class, or ever worse, not got in to the program because you took on more than you could handle? There were many students in my A&P classes who had already taken the class one or two times and either not taken it seriously or bit off more than they could chew. Don't be that person. Slow and steady wins the race. Just think, in nursing school you'll be forced to take on more than you can handle. Relax and enjoy life while you can!
very true--you have to actually know, absorb, and remember the info from A&P.
