Air Force Nurse Pay

Do AF Nurses get any extra "special" stipend (pay) a month or a yearly bonus for being in? Sort of like the Doctors do...

I also know that the AF is offering an ISP bonus for CEN, right now it is 80,000 is you sign on for 4 years. Basically, 20,000 a year - taxed, of course.

Yikes. I think my eyes just fell out of my head! I have my CEN, but can't join the AF because of my tattoos. Rats! LOL. Does anyone know if the Army has a bonus for the CEN?

What about CCRN? Critical care version of CEN? I didn't hear that bonus. The one I heard about was 4 yrs $30,000 for RN

Hello,

I know the 30,000 sign on bonus. However, the ISP is offered once you're already in. Basically, an incentive to become CEN cert and extend your time while you're in. I am unsure about incentives for CCRN though.

And rest assured you will spend a lot of time in the sandbox with those creds - there's a reason they're attaching fat bonus checks to those specialties.

If hanging out on the lovely beaches of Iraq and Afghanistan isn't your thing, think that through very carefully before you 'fess up those creds.

Hey everyone,

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct thread, but tonight when I was googling schools for nurse practitioner schools, some of them don't require alot or pre-req's other than a BSN and a good score on the GRE and nursing license and a 3.0 G.P.A for their master's programs, my initial plan was to graduate with my BSN in 2 years, join the Air Force, hit captain, then go back to school for either nurse practitioner school or CRNA, then finish out my air force time, but it looks as if I could possibly graduate with my BSN, get my RN license and start a master's program for Nurse Practitioner and then join the air force upon getting my master's for a nurse practitioner, anybody have advice on this??? The only downfalls I see are I would have very little RN experience besides my clinicals, when I graduate with my BSN I will be 32, so by the time I finish my Master's would be between 34-37, and thus the older you get, the harder it is to get in to the air force....thanks for any insight.....oh and one more downfall would be, I would have higher loan debt than if I joined after I graduate with my BSN...oh and if anyone supports getting the nurse practitioner route first, what steps should I take far as the recruiter is concerned..

In my opinion, I would join the AF first and then go back to get your MSN. That way the AF will pay for it. I think they are really big on education. I am graduating in May of next year with my BSN and hopefully will be selected this January. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My plan is to get a few years under my belt and then apply to graduate school.

This is a really old post. Bonus change based on needs. But you will not be eligible for any other bonuses if you take an accession bonus.

If you have your CCRN, it's smart to pass the sign-on bonus and loan repayment. The ISP for the CCRN is up to 20K per year for the AF right now for a 4- year contract. Essentially your passing-up 20K to take 80K later.
