at what age did you start studying nursing?

Published

from what i have seen, a lot of us here are parents or in their 30s. so i was quite curious.

for me, i'm 17 gong 18. i'm only 9 months into my nursing course. in singapore, almost majority of the nurses start studying at 17 or 18 years old.

Specializes in Pediatric/Adolescent, Med-Surg.

I started pre-req's at 17, a week before I turned 18. :)

Specializes in Pediatrics.

started at 18

adn at 20

bsn at 28

msn (knock on wood) at 32

after that.... ???? (i think that may be it!!)

I started a four-year BN program last year when I was 17. :)

Specializes in NICU.

Graduated high school at 18, went straight to a university, got my BSN at 22.

I had decided on nursing at age 16, so by the time I graduated, I had already taken high school-level antatomy and physiology, plus a semester-long medical careers course that included 2 days a week "shadowing" at a local hospital.

Specializes in ER.

I started back to school when I was 30, after being a stay home mom for 10 years....my baby started first grade, so I went to school, too!:) ....I am now thirty-four, graduating this May.

Specializes in NICU, Infection Control.

I started college @ 18, fooled around for 2 years, then went to a diploma program @ 20, finished @ 23.

I took a CNA course through public school when I was a senior. After that I worked for a couple years at a surgical center, insurance co, and lastly a podiatrist office until daycare costs ate up my paycheck. I stayed home with my daughter for 1 year and then decided that I could be using my time more wisely if I went back to school. I took entrance tests at my community college and signed up for my first 2 classes and then found out I was preggers with my 2nd child (I had him on spring break of my second semester in college). I took 2-3 classes a semester and was accepted into the ADN program this past fall. I love being in nursing school!!!!:rotfl: I wish I wouldve gone right out of high school but at the same time I'm glade I have the life experience and the obsticles to test my determination. I am sure I will get my BSN sometime, but for now I am happy to graduate before I turn 30. :balloons:

Started pre-reqs at 31, will graduate when I'm 35 (hopefully!).

Like many others, this is a career change for me - my BS is in Psych and Education - now I'm pursuing an RN diploma. I have wanted to do this since about age 26 - it has just taken me awhile to get here. :)

I decided I wanted to be a nurse at 26 and I've been taking one class at a time. I have 3 classes left before I can apply for nursing school. I start A&P I and my math course in two weeks (yikes) and I'll take A&P II in the fall. I'm hoping to graduate by the time I'm 31. :)

started prereqs at 27 start the RN program in April this year age 29.
